    Dead heading and cut the lawn shorter ready for scarifying in a few weeks time.
    Loads and loads of horizontal grass and thatch.
    Just dug a patch out ready for re seeding

    Not in the least - we are complete novices who have only a little more than a passing interest. It was watching the ISS passing from our old house that got us interested, and we have thought about a telescope ever since, but haven't found one suitable (cheap but not complete rubbish) until now.

    So far, as the skies have been cloudy its been used to get close up views of tree leaves and birds - hoping for some clearer skies later :)

        Good idea Zigs - sorry, I wandered again :oopss:.

        Back on topic, not done much in the garden today, except watering and a wee inspection of my peppers - much to my surprise I have one that is nearly 'shop' size now :dancy: - just need to find out how to tell what is a green pepper and what is one that will change colour.

          I thought they all started off green, FC, and then as they ripened turned red or yellow??:scratch::dunno::snork:......but then I'm not a veg man, so what would I know:heehee:

            I think you are right, but I am not sure if the colour change is solely driven by how long the fruits are left on the plant, or if its dependant on the individual plant or fruit?

            I swear that I'll get this gardening lark worked out one of these days...............

              I'm going to pot up 3 young sprigs of a 4 year old dianthus "Coconut Sundae" .The middle is brown and finished but it was such a pretty little thing in its youth that it deserves to be replaced. Dead heading all the dahlias to prolong their flower season. So many bees on them today as its dry. And taking the knife to the Maskotka toms to remove leaves and flower spikes so that the plants can focus on ripening the fruits. Pulling out a large Lychnis that has finished flowering and its useful purpose. Which means I will have to string up the Salvia Leucantha alongside as she using the Lychnis as a prop. Leucantha is showing hints of lilac flower spires to come It's a very late flowerer but will be something to look at in September /October.

              Well, apparently it is the plant that decides the colour of the pepper - I popped into the polytunnel to water stuff, and found this fellow hiding under the foliage - there are a good few more fruits forming, all of which are the same colour on that plant :)

              The neighbouring plant has green fruits, and was the first to fruit:

              If you look carefully, you can see another wee black one hiding away at the back. The green one just in front of it is no longer - it is now in my belly, having been harvested and popped in with a bolognese earlier :) Much tastier and less bitter than shop bought too - so that is something else to grow next year :)
