As I remember it, it should look like Armadii's when growing well.
Brown streaks following the veins are always a bit suspect I think, especially on relatively new leaves.

I'll take a photo of mine, next time the sun comes out!, and ask your opinion.

Sorry to keep banging on about C. "cleopatra", but I find its everchanging appearance very unusual.
This leaf shows how the variegation is not the same on both sides of the leaf. I took the picture with the sun shining through it.

So this is the two sides of the same leaf

I like that pete, I'll have to have a proper look at the one you sent me.

I love the Cleopatra leaves, Pete, although I'm more of a flower man than foliage lover. Cannas do seem to have some interesting leaves......a Cleopatra might go well with the Durban and Petoria:heehee:

I feel sure you know this, and I am misunderstanding, but just in case you think that Cleopatra is an interesting leaf only here are the flowers on mine this morning:

Some of my Cannas (mostly seed grown) that have been sulking all summer have suddenly perked up, one that has been stuck at 12 inches tall, doing nothing and has been so close to going on the compost heap a couple of times has suddenly shot up and now measures 3ft and looks prestine; 2ft of growth in 2 weeks :blue thumb:

All my others; seed grown, saved rhizomes and bought ones are thriving too, one called C.Tenerife that I got from a sale trolley at Wilkos about 6 weeks ago has thrown up about 6 suckers and 3 of them have new flower buds coming, nothing over 18 inches tall though, so I'm assuming this may be a dwarf variety..

This is what I like about the plant Kristen, its interesting even before it flowers, then it comes up with flowers of unknown colour, until they open, well kind of.
The colour of the buds do give away the flower colour, as does the foliage.

Thanks for that Pete:thumbsup::snork: What I meant was that by being a flower man rather than a foliage man if I was planning a garden I would do it with herbaceous flowering plants rather than plants that are noted to give interesting spectacular foliage:snork: The Canna Cleopatra does give you the best of both worlds to be honest. Don't be surprised if you see it in my garden next year!!!:heehee:

That would be greatly appreciated, Pete, if it happened.:snork: Thanks for your post, Kristen, I think I explained what I meant to Pete so I'm sure you'll understand what I said. I'm a gardener who basically loves all plants, but has a passion for flowering herbaceous plants, so wandering off into the area of exotics such as Cannas and Bananas is a definite new area for me although I've been growing them for around 3 years. It's seems the more I grow the less I know!!!:heehee:

My Cleopatra is being outpaced by my established plants:
The Cleopatra is at the bottom middle, just below the Datura. It was slow to get away but now is looking very healthy, don't think it's big enough to flower this year. Sadly I lost the biggest tuber pete sent me, I think I over-watered it to start with and it rotted. The above is the smaller second offset he sent :dbgrtmb:
