How to unsubscribe from this site?

I have some theories about how this could happen. I don't think the GC software is guilty, more likely some posting referring to GC and featuring Dopey's email address.

We'll never find out for certain how it happened. Best we can do now is try to get it stopped.

Dopey, does your email provider feature a spam filter or report option? I'm with the notorious Hotmail, and their spam filter is pretty good. When you mark an email is junk, you get the option to tell MS that its spam, and if enough people report similar messages, then they block them at source, otherwise they just get sent to your Junk folder, or blocked completely from your account. I think most providers offer something similar.

Hi Dopey, luckily we dont need any Search Engine Optimisation because we are already in the first few results of Google so we can't go much higher than that.

Anyway it would be helpful to see a screenshot of your mailbox to prove your point.
(go on the relevant page,
press the "Print screen sysrq" button on the keyboard
open PAINT
click EDIT
click PASTE
save the file)
you can then upload the file on a post by clicking "upload a file"

I have been a member of this site since 2005 and am also a member of linkedin but I have never received any spam connected to this site.

 

LinkedIn was hacked a few months ago, and email addresses were taken. The hackers didn't get everything, just a small subset (but still a large data set). This is why I asked if Dopey uses LinkedIn. It is possible that his was one of the email addresses that the hackers got. I'm also on LinkedIn, but luckily I don't seem to have had any problems, but I know others that have been spammed to oblivion following the incident.

 

I have ESET SmartSecurity and it has NEVER allowed anything through. It found a virus a few weeks ago and would hardly let me switch on the PC, but after a restore a few days before the alleged virus was detected i t stabilised and all has been well ever since.
I have no reason to think it was linked to GC,

OK, so that was a bit of an exaggeration but it kept pestering me and stopping me from doing what I wanted to do. Had me going round in circles and I am almost PC illiterate and couldn't find a way to avoid it.

It wont make any different whether you unsubscribe or not - you'll still get the junk mail. Don't use hotmail myself but no doubt you'll be able to redirect/filter the mail to a junk folder easily enough.
