I guess that might where Terry Pratchett found the inspiration for the Guild of Thieves. For those that haven't read Pratchett's most informative and amusing satirical fantasy works, there is a city in the imaginary world where the top politician has worked out that there will always be crime, and to control it is to legalise and regulate it, so in this imaginary city, it is ok to mug somebody as long as you do so within quota and issue a receipt to your victim. If, as a member of the Guild of Thieves, you happen to encounter a thief who is not in the guild, it is ok to deal with them as you see fit.

Being called "you guys" - as in looking for something in Currys (other electrical stores are available) and being being addressed "you guys awright there?" and going into pub/restaurant (just the two of us) and being asked "you guys looking for a table for two?"

My joints pop in and out quite frequently, the most painful being the shoulder. I was in a manhole on one occasion and had to get my self back out again. I was very close to being sick after that one. Ribs are another frequent one for me, which makes it painful to breathe. They usually pop back into place after about half an hour, but the bruised feeling last alot longer. I sadly had to give up horse riding many years ago because of that one. The movement of horse riding, rocks them out of place.

Ref the toe, it is the skin just below the tip of the nail which just seems to be highly sensitive and raw to touch. Very odd.

My latest freek out was about 3 weeks ago , just before going to bed I thought I saw a huge spider on the landing carpet, to my surprise it was a 2 inch long very dark almost black Cricket , SO I got some tissue but it hopped onto the wall I manged to grab hold off it but very carefully as I dint want to damage it , as I was just about to put out side it jumped onto my chest and stated to crawl up my neck it totaly freeked me out but it jumped off finally, too think I open up beehives with over 50 thousand bees in and I never falter.

Being wrapped in anything and not being able to get out - even if my legs are covered on the sofa and the blanket is wrapped round and I have difficulty getting it off. It completely sends me into panic mode! [IMG] I am quite claustrophobic so that's probably got something to do with it. I always have to have one leg hanging out of the side of the bed so I'm not completely under the covers.

Changes in routine and going somewhere new so I don't know where I'm driving to.

                      :roflol: :roflol: :roflol:

When I was in China, I saw my first ever cockroach, two in fact clearly male and female *ahem* on my bedside table... without panic, I knocked on the bedroom next door to ask the two burly blokes if they could catch them for me? One got the female with a tissue, ran across the room with it, at arms length, to the bathroom and tried to flush it down the toilet (they float!); the other got the male cockroach under a glass; but, instead of picking up the glass, putting his hand over the top and strutting out the room ... he continued to pin it down and then, on his hands and knees, "skated" out of my room and down the (long!) corridor to throw it out of the window!! :roflol:

At the end of our trip, we went to a fabulous "all you can eat" buffet and the guys brought back to the table a plate with two bugs on it (a local delicacy, apparently!). One of the guys picked up one of the two in his fist and put it to his mouth ... what could I do? I had to "man up" ... so, I took the other one, put it in my mouth, began chewing ... and the other guy opened his fist and put his back on the plate (it never reached his lips :nonofinger: ) :eeew:

All I can say is: at least I swallow :coffee:

One time whilst on holiday on the island of Minorca, I briefly laid down on some grass while on a tour of the island. After a while I felt something tickle my leg. Then again. Instinctively without thinking I patted my leg to knock off whatever was tickling me. I felt a wet patch form on my leg and I realised I'd just splatted something sizeable. Worse, I was wearing creamy coloured light trousers so I knew it wouldn't take much for the juice of splatted thing to work through and make a proper stain which would be very embarrassing, so I kept still so as not to accelerate the process of the juice soaking through, and sent wife on a reccy to find some toilets or anywhere else nearby where I could pull my duds down for a proper check. She promptly returned and reported that she'd found the toilets just a few yards away, so I carefully went along. I dropped my duds, and there was half a cricket/locust/grass hopper thing, probably formerly 2 inches long, with black and yellow stripes. I carefully scooped out the remains and mopped up as much goo as I could, pulled my duds up, and went on my way. I made a point of not sitting down on the grass again for the rest of the tour.

Spruce, your story reminds me of an incident the other week involving my t'other half. He was cleaning the shed up (3x4 meters) and suddenly a rat jumped onto his shoulder and it freaked him out although he is quite use to them ... it was the sudden shock. Here is a pic I posted recently in another thread of t'other half holding a mouse ...

Just to add another one ...

Driving over motorway bridges - especially if they are going over water [IMG]

Barton Bridge, over which I have driven twice today, frightens the bejesus out of me, especially if there is a lorry next to me. There was an accident there a while ago which my friend saw the aftermath of - she said there was a lorry literally hanging over the edge [IMG]

Also driving on a road where there is a drop. Have you ever been over Snake Pass? OMG the scariest thing ever - I had a panic attack when I was driving back from Sheffield to Manchester as you are next to a sheer drop with just a small metal railing separating you and it - and the lorries were thundering up and down. I was crawling along in second gear holding everybody up but I was damned if I was going to go any faster cos I would have gone over the edge [IMG]
