In past I`ve done the same , spent lots of money in dud seeds and then realise that it`s cheap just to buy a plant ,.......you can say ...it`s still cheap to buy seeds !! If they are not fresh you just waist you time.

Travellers palm are some of the most impressive plants I`ve seen , but really doubt they will survive even indoor , I`ll may wrong , but it would be amazing if you manage to grow one.

Did you try to chip the seeds and pre germinate?

If you want the seeds to get bananas at the end, it is kind of a long wait...But of course the plant looks fantastic.

I bought 3 packets of 10 seeds each of Musa Mannii, Musa Coccinea, and Ensete Superbum, from Jungle Seeds. I did initially query the viability of the Musa Coccinea seeds as they floated when I put them in water to soak. However, it was the Ensete that didn't germinate at all while I got one seed germinating each from Musa Mannii and Coccinea. I did try just keeping the heated propagator on all the time for weeks and then read about an "on and off" system of heating when trying to germinate Musa. I tried that and after a few weeks got a result....but that could just be coincidence and I can't prove it was that method that caused the seeds to germinate. So, for me, it was a 10% success at getting the seeds to germinate with two varieties and a total failure with the third variety. I know there's the argument about "well, it's cheaper to buy a plant" rather than struggle for weeks/months trying to germinate seeds, but for me it's the challenge of trying to get some sort of success that makes me choose to sow and hope!! I will try again in the coming season and go for other varieties but I will include Ensete Superbum as it's a challenge and any sort of success is a lucky bonus.:snork:
