I sometimes freak people out with my ability to read just as well if the text is upside down, back to front, mirror symmetry or any combination thereof. I've always known its not the composition of the word, but the general shape of it combined with the context. The article above is over flattering, because it doesn't take a strong mind to read it, at least no stronger than average. Its just what the brain does. It links information gathered from our very inferior vision, and combines it with info in context that we've learned before, in order to estimate and approximate the actual detail.

My ability to read in any direction might be partly because dyslexia runs in the family, or more likely its because when I learned to read at school, often there weren't enough books to go round and we had to share one book between as many as four of us, and so it was often only practical to sit opposite, and therefore I naturally learned to read in any direction. All totally normal for the clever human brain, which learns from external stimulus and combines new knowledge with old in order to build the full picture.

Exactly my point. My brain couldn't be bothered to decipher it fully so it took the limited visual info and cross referenced it with existing knowledge. There was a very similar article on bookface recently that referred to being being strong, so my brain cheated a bit:)

If it had been spelled right I could just as easily have misread it:)
