What Jobs Are We Doing in the Garden Today... MK2..

It's looking grand FC! A couple of ideas..........To finish off round the base, how about something like kitchen or wardrobe unit plinths. The second.......I was in the same situation with the glazing as my greenhouse is side by side with my shed. I, with my sons help found it easier to put the middle pieces of glass in first on the shed side, that includes the roof, then work away to the left and right from there, working from the inside.

It's been up a few years and now I have another issue. My shed needs coating, so two choices, take the glass out of the greenhouse to get to it, or, which I'm going to try first, attach a roller to a broom handle, so I can get between the two.

 

I would probably make a frame on the slabs to support a plywood floor. Before nailing the floor down, completely fill the gap underneath with sand as fully and tightly as you can. Will cost a bit more, but it will also give you insulation from the ground up.


Makes my efforts in the garden seem pants now! Today I got on with turning the seating area into a large walk in coldframe for the winter.





Nothing more than thick plastic sheet, but the area faces south and is sheltered by a large fir tree above. Got a door with glass to go on the front and the roof is being done with 6mm polycarb, two sheets (one on the top and the other screwed up from underneath). Also got carpet to put down on the wooden base.

Also lifted a few of the Lobelia tupa that have not flowered this year and my Salvia "Wendys Wish" - they'll be in here over the winter along with a fair few others.

 

Decorators use the roller method it is called "A funny tool" and would be the best way to go

Just got in from the garden to have an ice cold frappe. Have cleared my tomato plants and hung up unripe fruit. Cleared my sweetcorn, eating the mini cobs whilst doing so.

Now in their places I have planted out Aquadulce, Bunyards Exhibition and Medes Broad Beans. Dog had a good sniff to see what I had done, but my Robin did not emerge to get any worms that were overturned. In the garge I have put out Marigold seeds to dry, Late sprinking of Winter Cauliflower,Red Kale, and an old packet of Ailsa Craig Onions to see what happens. Sat last night watching Indiana Jones film and guess what was doing ?!! No, I was cutting out labels from margarine tubs. Yes, I am a cheapskate.

You sound like our type of Gardener! Nothing wrong with making labels out of plastic tubs. More money available for buying the things we like to grow. Have a wander round the threads. Others will be along to say hallo a bit later on. What toms. have you been growing? There are a couple of Tomato threads to see.

Not very good with computers and pictures. The tomatoes were little cherry ones, but I can't tell you what type, as the label faded.But, they tasted far better than the supermarket ones, we had some the other day, in a cheesy panini with gooey Mozarella cheese and smoked ham. Washed down with a lager and Lime.Yeah !! Bought cheap Strawberries as do not grow them myself, 75p a punnet,and shall turn them into jam tomorrow,hopefully, if I get the ironing done early, a woman's work and all that. Will sit and watch telly tonight with a tray and sift through the Marigold seeds that I collected today. Anyone want some, I will swop for something unusual in the flower dept. Let me know.
