Righty-o, there isn't much going that I can find within 100 miles of you and within budget, but a wee bit of movement on budget or distance gives you some choices.

Daewoo Tacuma - these suffer value wise because of the badge on the nose (a good thing for you as they are now really cheap), but as far as I know they are generally robust.

    Clicky

Bit above budget, and a wee bit further than your 100 miles, but low miles, clean and tidy, and on a '54 plate (late 2004 into 2005)
    Clicky
Or the same car with a Chevrolet badge, 2007 car
    Clicky

The old favourite Xsara Picasso - nice clean one, with reasonable mileage, and a moon-roof!
    Clicky
And this one, a wee bit up on the miles, but not too bad, and it looks clean and straight
    Clicky

Another one that often gets overlooked due to the badge on the nose, Kia Sedona; there is a reason that these were popular with some cab companies for airport transfers, and it wasn't just the size; fairly reliable beasts. This one is a bit further than you were looking at, but well priced.

    Clicky

They are capable of intergalactic mileages - Yes, it does say 234,000 miles

Renault Espace – wee bit leggy, but should be fine if its been looked after; long proven mechanicals on these, and not too much in the way of electronics:
    Clicky

Renault Megane Scenic - sensible mileage, private seller, looks clean
    Clicky

Skoda Octavia Estate - lot of car for not much money, and the ding on the front wing would cost less than £200 to fix I reckon, so still within your £1k budget. Supremely reliable, and drive really nicely
    Clicky

I don't like them personally, no reason other than I don't like any Vauxhall's, but the Vauxhall Zafira deserves a mention - not many about within budget that haven't been to the moon and back though - this was the best of a bad bunch that I could find near you
    Clicky

And lastly, the VW Sharan, auto which goes against the grain a wee bit - but miles not too high, looks clean and could well be a winner
    Clicky

Something for you to be going on with at least.

FC i am sorry that i must have taken up your day off !!
i like quite a few of these but quite a few of these are basically just too car like :loll:

i know i am hard work!!!

and the others to be fair are fab but are going to be too thirsty for work and insurance i have to have business use as i transport clients on times
mileage has been cut in work as has valeting and terry is really fed up of some of the clients trashing our family car :help: so thats basically why i am looking at the
      berlingo
      renault kango
as they have great big van like like space the rear but a car thats cheap and cheerful i dont want to have to be removing all the seats every time i go to pick up manure or soil so i feel these type of vehicles would work best

i can spend a little more but just trying to be as fruggle as i can at the same time
COR i dont want much do i :yikes:

if it was only the one car we were having i may be tempted with the sharan mind cause i really like that as a car !

There was one Peugeot Partner on an '03 plate for about 1250-ish that might be worth a look then; I stopped short because the upholstery looked a bit grubby, but that may not be an issue given your use?

Give me a mo, and I'll find it.

      EDIT - here it is

Its a bit of a jaunt, but I have a feeling that you are going to have to add a bit more to your range - think of it as another 45 mins and a fivers worth of fuel to get the right motor? Apart from the grubby upholstery it looks to be OK?

The Berlingo and the Partner are pretty much the same thing under the skin - all PSA group, so same engines and running gear.

Five hours seems a hell of a long time to cover just over 150 miles - I'd have said more like three, unless the roads are really poor.

How far are you from the likes of Swindon, Southampton or Cardiff?

EDIT - and what is your maximum budget?

Kaz, this probably isn't any help but a few years ago we bought a Suzuki Wagon R and our neighbour who was an electrician was SO impressed with the space in the back that he bought one also for his work, lovely car, LOADS of space, high up seating position because I too am small and pretty cheap to run. might be worth checking out? :)

You should be able to find something for under £2k Kaz - I was working as near to a grand as possible, and to be honest in that sort of price region its hard to avoid sheds.

I'll have another potter later and post back.

Not even if it's a Citroën corrugated iron 'shed'? I've always fancied one of these:

Kaz -Berlingo not to far away. Looks clean and tidy, and is a diesel.

EDIT - Very upper end of your budget, but appears to be a very tidy example of a Kangoo
