I bought some from Aldi back in March. Never did get around to planting it (weather and other stuff). I'm going to try and plant it this autumn and see what happens.

I have just ordered Solent Wight on Ebay. Hope they will perform a little better than my Wilkos one last year , tasty but very small .
It seems very difficult to get a concensus on the best garlics for UK growing............

There are just so many places online to get garlic from! Think I'll have a brief look on ebay but the garlic farm looks pretty good to me at the moment

Garlic Farm have "Mixed packs" of 2 bulbs of each variety. However, if you want to buy specific varieties their packs are 4 bulbs per variety.

Depends how much Garlic you eat, of course, but I only plant about 4-6 bulbs total, so to try several varieties I would need to buy singles, or a pair, of each variety only.

T&M sell specific varieties in 2-bulb packs, and they have mixed packs with just a single bulb of each. So might be more "right sized" for anyone wanting to try several varieties perhaps?

Well I was well impressed with my Chesnok Red last year so am on the look out for that again (although I might replant some of the ones I grew also). It looks as though the garlic farm have renamed it Chesnok Wight...

Forgot to mention that I have ended up getting the garlic from a previously unconsidered source - fleabay! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=140844260174

Normally would have gone to T&M but wallett is beginning to get moths in it... Will let you know ow it turns out (the delivery and growing not the wallet lol)

I wanted to try planting some messydrome garlic this autumn, but T&M want £8.94 (£3.99 + £4.95 P&P) for one bulb!

The ebay supplier Loofah posted sells two bulbs for £4.10 incl P&P, less than a quarter of the cost/bulb of getting them from T&M.

So unless the garden centre I have a 10% discount card for has any when I go there on Wednesday (£2 for two after discount would be nice), ebay is where I'll get those garlic from.

My garlic were very poor this year, I think I got back the same amount as I planted.

They're what I normally grow, normally going for a big order to avoid paying P&P, but after being wiped out by white rot last year, then rust this year, I'll only be getting a few this autumn.

      My 'normal' order:

      And 'normal' bulb size:

EDIT:Photobucket's playing up with that pic, but I've uploaded it a few posts down

Ordered 9 bulbs of Music from Really Garlicky Co yesterday.

Bought three packs of Taylors Germidour Garlic, each containing 3 bulbs (1 packet had 3 1/2 in ! I do search the packs for things like that) @ £2.99 each, but I get 10% off plants, seeds & bulbs with my discount card, so £7.99 for 9.5 bulbs, so 84p each (£3 each + P&P at T&M)
