It's the kind of shop that sells everything you can think of. The type that has buckets and mops etc..... Outside. They do sporadically through the summer have trays of bedding in. It's a great place to have on your doorstep

 

Another 2 trays of winter pansys. Was tempted with a Ensete maurelli which was a 5 foot tall and Abit battered at £15 down from £25 but was put off with being able to over winter it!

 

BnQ today, burst bags of Mature Horse Manure, eight x 50Lt £4

I only went to look see if they had any blowaway recovers :-)

On the way to town, I noticed a car stopped on a main roundabout, someone wandering around it
On return car in same place, 200 Yards round the round about a woman walking with a petrol can
So I stopped and said jump in (I totally forgot about the eight open bags of HS in the back :-) cor it was ripe stuff
Anyways I got her to the garage, and took her back, when she announces the battery may be flat as she had kept trying to start it, I waited until she had it going but she was right the battery was now flat
OK she says I have jump leads, Yes all one metre of them :-(
So I popped home got real jump leads and went back, started first go and off she goes thanking human kindness still exists
Too polite to mention the stink, but I did explain :-)

I remember rescuing a bloke in the middle of the night about 30 years ago. My wife, then girl friend, was driving down for the weekend and her car broke down 80 miles away. There was heavy snow, it was seriously cold, and she had a typical student's car - prone to compete failure!

So, its now about midnight, I've found her and got her in my warm car and heading back home. Road is a couple of inches of packed snow .... roads are empty of course ... and then there is this bloke flagging me down. We are on a dual carriage way, no cars in sight ... so I stop. He has no coat on, and a pair of hush puppies lounge shoes. He is frozen - I mean SERIOUSLY cold. He says he ran out of petrol, someone gave him a lift to the garage, he recorded the mileage, got a lift back in the opposite direction, and when the mileage was up he got out ... but now he couldn't find his car!

There was another junction between him and the garage, and he'd obviously abandoned his car (and wife and kids!) up the other "limb". Would I take him there? Well ... it was 10 miles to the garage, another 10 to the next exit, then double back the 10 to the garage, the 5 to the junction, another 5 to his car, another 5 to the next exit, then back 25 miles to the garage ... and then I could continue my journey home.

His battery was flat too - he'd left his lights on "so he'd be able to find it when he came back again" after getting the petrol ... lucky to be alive, that one, I reckon. Didn't ask him for his phone number!

 

Not to mention the liability ....

Pretty much finished the new greenhouse, 4'x10' along the wall at the end of the garden:

.. so no excuses for no tomatos next year. Still have the electrics to connect up & build some staging from the stash of old decking I put away at the start of the year.

Took two weeks to clear & level the ivy & the old grape vine that was there (I did consider building the greenhouse around the vine, but in the 15 years its been there Ive had a decent crop of grapes once) - from this:

oh - when they say take care with the big sheets of tempered glass they mean it - I got careless with the last one, picked it up wrong & it promptly exploded, taking one of the smaller sheets with it. So my new greenhouse has a polycarb panel in the roof before its a week old... it may stay like that until the new year just in case I loose a few more.

 

That looks the business Nick. How much sun will it get per day? re: polycarb roof.Nothing in the tree up above that might come crashing down on to a glass roof?
