Fantastic collection Keith, was there a greenhouse or a conservatory when you moved in?
My old one has now been taken away and the new one isn't due to go up for two weeks. My Plumerias and Bougainvilleas are having to stay outside daytimes. Can't lift anything yet as there is nowhere to put it.

Lovely pictures Keith, love the impatiens, I bought one at Malvern last weekend 'Racemosa' (small yellow flowers), the stall holder said it was a good woodland plant for shade so I have the perfect spot, she said it was perennial and seeds everywhere which is fine for where its going, I've googled and can't find much info on it, thought I'd better check before planting it out, what I can find is in french!!!, have you ever grown it ?

I love that large leaved red oak Bilbo. First saw it growing in France, maybe 20 years ago but it seems a relativelyrecent introduction to our shores?
Please correct me if I'm wrong,
          Jenny

Hi Jenny, it is indeed an introduced tree, it's native range being in North America, not sure when it came to our shores though? :)

          Thanks!
Quite a few (Rhodochiton, Sollya, Polygala) are in pots so that they can get winter protection Liliana, so you cold go for a few choice plants! At the very least, get yourself a Sollya - frost free in the garage when it gets towards freezing is good enough.

          Thanks to you too!
There was a greenhouse, but no conservatory (nor any chance as it's a listed building). I do miss the conservatory badly. I must admit that I decided to lift a few early whilst the weather was decent to give them the best chance of recovery - a couple of Lobelia tupa sulked for days afterwards!

Hi Longk, why do you take pictures in the evening , is it so that the colours are coming out more true? Just a guess..

Some pics I took tonight while the Sun was still going down and it was reasonably bright. A mug of tea, a camera and a slow amble around the garden...very nice!!:snork:
