Just spotted this Giant Hosta on fleabay!
I've had a couple off bits of them and they're good to deal with.

Now that is one big Hosta ! I love Hostas but that is a tad on the huge size for me. All the hosta leaves around here seem to have gone yellow in less than a week , leaves are falling from my Virginia Creeper...summer is over. :frown:

I love that, nearly bought until I realised they were selling the mini version for that price. I would like to have a couple of Hostas but I'm worried about buying and installing an expensive Slug Al a Carte meal, any tips for managing this?

Yvonne , I keep my Hostas in containers + slug pellets . They are a lovely plant for semi-shade.

I bought 3 plugs of Jurassic Park in the spring , they have made quite a lot of growth but the leaves are only two inches high I just hope they sent me the correct ones as I think maybe "mouse ears" . Maybe next spring they will get bigger time will tell? .

Are they safe to use with a regular visit from Mr (or Mrs) Hedgehog? My new friend has been the highlight of my new garden so far :dancy:

I use the BIO type of slug pellets from Wilkos , they are pet friendly, I presume they are Hegehog friendly ? The hedgehog population has plummeted so we do need to be careful - like , have little gaps in your fencing so they can get from A to B.

If you're really concerned, maybe put some kind of mesh around the plant, to keep out the 'hogs'?

hedgie.jpg I'm on the case Harry, my little visitor feasts on cat biscuits I leave out for him/her every night and whenever I see them in the road in my area, I stop the car, pick them up and put them in the nearest field or garden. This may be futile but if it saves one from being run over, its all worth it. This is my little friend :-)

Not tried this method yet but It's organic and hedgehog friendly
Get 2 full garlic bulbs, smash them up in a plastics bag until fine.
Tip contents in 2 pints of boiling water for 2-3 minutes
Let the mixture cool outside ( cos its smelly )
Then sieve out the garlic and pour into a jar
When needed add 2 tablespoon per watering can.
        Do every 7-14 days
