Thanks all. I've been into the office this morning to hand over the laptop and mobile, although I'm still working for the current company until Friday, but will be working from home the rest of the week.

The manager there told me (twice) that if I didn't like the new job I should "please please" call him, which was nice to hear :)

Had my offer letter through yesterday (which at that time was still subject to vetting being completed) and then this morning an email to inform me that the vetting had been completed so now I just have to take my original proofs of ID with me when I show up to the office on Tuesday :)

Just had these delivered from the interim job I've just left, along with a card thanking me for everything I've done. I've only been there two and a half weeks. Isn't that lovely of them? :spinning:

Nice flowers and thoughts from you old colegues

"The manager there told me (twice) that if I didn't like the new job I should "please please" call him, which was nice to hear :)"

It would have been nicer if he had spoken to you in the office instead of emailing you that you were to be paid off in the first place

Do not allow kindness now to CLOUD what in reality happened, even though it turned
out to be the best thing to happen for you

Sorry, not sure what you mean. The comments from the manager (and the flowers) were from the place that I have been at for the past couple of weeks on a temporary basis, not the place I was made redundant from :)It was only ever going to be temporary.

Mis understood, I thought you were still at the original place awaiting redundancy

First day at the new job today. I don't have to be in until 11, but I feel like I'm attending the first day of 'big school' :heehee:

I haven't started a new job for 8 years, so it's going to be a bit of a culture shock.
