My 30yr old Waggie, with a Chamy growing at its base. A much younger T. fortunei, still with foliage to the base almost, and about 12ft high.
Hopefully you'll get your card back by January ... 'coz that's when Urban Jungle had its sale last Winter, and that's when I got my Waggie, and that's when I got my card confiscated !! 'coz I also bought a C. humilis and ... and ... and !!
Actually, all joking apart, you could grow some seedlings around the base to make a more bushy surround? T. fortuneii from seed is pretty easy, and only a couple of quid for the seed of course. They won't do much for the first couple of years, but they'll get more of a spring on after a few years. Depends on your patience levels ... but you know the saying: "Live like you are going to die tomorrow, garden like you are going to live forever"
My washy filifera didn`t die , but still recovery from 3 years ago , shame it would have look good , but today is actually 1/4 of what it was.
It will be interesting to see how mine fares this coming winter, the few 7/9cs last winter did a LOT of damage here. It's one of my original seedlings brought back from Cyprus 6 years ago.
