Live Feed - Jump From Edge of Space

Apparently it broke all Youtube records for live streaming over 8 million watched it.

Yep i got same response....well they missed a treatwhen i was telling them about it i could see their eyes glazing over....one of the chaps just said "huh ,i could have done that...not such a big deal" (he was actually serious)...not such a big deal ...the twerp...he looks like he'd have trouble jumping out of bed of a morning.......by ek some folk can really bring the worst out of me

 

Makes you wonder doesn't it, one rip in the pressure suit & his blood would vapourise, a micro meteor thru the balloon & it would plummet, a chute failure would have meant he'd vapourise as he hit the ground.....

But matey could have done that

I wouldn't have liked to have been responsible for making his suit...don't think they'd have let me do it eh

 

At least we know he (the mentalist, not Lol's colleague) is human. Reading the article, its quite clear that he was appropriately terrified every step of the way.

Well, yes. 833.9mph is quite a velocity to reach in any circumstances. That sort of speed when you're not actually in anything except your suit, and its only gravity that's making you go that fast, meaning the next stop is terra firma, and the state you're going to be in when you land depends to a large extent on whether the various forces on the way down knock you out or not before the time comes to control your parachute for the landing.

 

I think you'd have had more sense in colour choice though Loli. A deep brown possibly. Wouldn't have chosen WHITE !!

 

Apparently, one of his other feats was jumping off the arm of Christ the Reedemer, in Brazil.

In common with many of you, I was virtually the only person at work who had watched it live.
I tried to describe the sheer drama of watching a man standing on the edge of space, pausing for a few seconds, and then plunging into what could easily have been oblivion, but thankfully wasn't.
Perhaps it was the way I told it, the response was lukewarm at best.

"Nah, didn't see it. I did watch X Factor though" was the response, followed by a ten minute discussion on this latest edition of mindless drivel.

Sometimes I despair.
