    Off topic a bit :love30:. Earlier on there was a reference to the Cockney language. Cockneys are supposed to be born 'within the sound of Bow Bells'. Therefore there are no Cockneys between the age of 51 and 71 - the bells were destroyed by a bomb in 1941 and not restored properly until 1961. :old:

            Don't believe anything ARMANDII says :nonofinger: Although I became a naturalised Cockney from working darn the markets. :snork:

            I was born in a little shack a long way north of London!

                Well, it wasn't 'below stairs' as the room I was born in is the one with the brick arch over the window, two floors above the front door. My mother didn't work there but was staying there at the time.

                I get some funny reactions when I need to produce my birth certificate as it shows I was born in a castle :heehee:. Later on we returned to some of the rougher parts of London.:)

                All we need to do know is make sure you die in a Royal Palace then.

                You'll get a full state funeral then:dbgrtmb::snork:;)

                Shiney, I suppose you'd be classed as a naturalised Cockney then. :heehee:

                My parents are Londoners but not Cockneys. My dad was born in Streatham and my mum near the Old Kent Road, they moved out to Essex during the blitz which is where they met. I've been reared on rhyming slang, old sayings, jellied eels (yuck!) and pie mash and liquor still my favourite when I can get back there. :)

                Sorry for hi-jacking your thread Clueless. How are you feeling now?

                    Sheal, my father's family had been in the middle of the East End for generations. My mother was posher as she was from Hackney :heehee:.

                      I went back to work yesterday. I think the lurgy has completely gone, but it didn't half take its toll on my energy levels. I felt completely drained yesterday, but more or less normal today.
