    A serious question.

I'm not exactly thinking of becoming a veggy, but I think its about time I take the doctor's advice I received (more than once) years ago, and significantly reduce the amount of meat I eat.

Truth is, I'm not that bothered about meat these days anyway.

One thing concerns me though, and I know there are ways round this (thousands of perfectly healthy vegetarians are testament to this), meat contains protein and fat soluble vitamins such as we need in a healthy diet. How do we ensure that we get those same nutrients in a mostly veggy diet?

Soya & Hemp are the best balanced ones, but there's also Cheese, Eggs, whole range of other beans, Quorn etc.

B vitamins come from yeast extract. A whole range of more unusual vitamins can come from seed sprouts, Vit K from Alfalfa for example.

        Good find Marley:dbgrtmb:

A word about Chickpeas/Houmous though. If its a major part of your diet it can eat your brain.

I've never eaten meat in great quantities, I'm not veggie I just dont like the stuff, especially how the TV chefs "cook" it, almost raw.
I eat some meat, but I eat a lot of fish.

I just think things should be eaten in moderation, and its not scientific.

I eat fish, as some of you might have guessed from the Fishing Forum:snork:

But the only land animals i've eaten in the past 28 years are a road kill pheasant that I didn't want to waste and a Goat that I accidentally ate in Turkey.

We eat a lot of chicken and fish, and hardly any red meat, except for minced pork/beef now and again. Not that I don't like it, but just prefer chicken or fish now.

All I have all day today is an apple that I had for breakfast. I gave up the bacon sarnies for breakfast on a work day a while ago.

Now I'm looking forward to my pie and chips:)

Well.... I enjoy eating meat though not that much nowadays, I really love strong cheddar, it's my big weakness, yes, I know Cholesterol, :nonofinger: but my nurse is happy with my readings. :blue thumb: I am partial to Salami and Mortadella,(an Italian pork salami with peppercorns), I have tried eating more veg, but OH, thinks his throat has been cut, if he is shortchanged if there is no meat on his plate. :th scifD36: I love rice, pasta, all beans, not to fond of tofu :eeew: . As before, each to there own, it's a matter of looking at books. There are so many books about, and obviously t'internet. :stirpot:
