As photography is my hobby I thought I'd create a thread so that I can share the odd one now and again and keep them in the same place :)

Here's my first one - latest lesson.

Slow shutter's worked nicely and the wall's forming a good leading line!

        Thanks all :)

There's always room for improvement, I'm kinda my own worst critic but the problem is I don't know how to make them look better to how I like them, only basic adjustment *sobs*

Can't decide what to do with this one, or rather I'm not sure how to get the best out of this one with photoshop (grrr, wishes I had a 1 to 1 tutor sometimes).

I'm getting taught by professionals on a one to one basis, Tez, at the moment. But I keep getting told that while they can teach me to "drive the car" it's up to me how far I get in a standard of "driving". You can know all there is to know about Photoshop but if you haven't got the curiosity or "artistic" sense then you'll either not be able to improve a basic RAW shot or you'll tell yourself [and others] that your pictures are always superb....when they're just possibly okay.:heehee: But the very fact that you are questioning your shots shows you have both. Someone could advise you on what to do with the shot and on taking that advise you could end up hating the shot!!! I think you develop your own style, expertise and thinking over time and those photographers that stop questioning their own work have stopped taking photographs!!:coffee:By the way, I like the shot:snork:

The problem I've got at present is I've got the car, I've got the keys but the instructor has run off with the battery lol

I have ideas in how I want a shot to look after I've made adjustments, for example, the sky looks like it has tracing paper carefully placed over it that I want to improve (1 of a few adjustments to make), the trouble is when I remove the tracing paper the rest of it changes.

I'm slowly trying to get to grips with layers etc but to me there's so many if's/buts/ands etc.

At present I'm trying to recreate what I saw someone do in a couple of mins, which is to take two pictures of kids/grandkids, place one on the other, make one B&W with maybe a 50% or so opacity, twist/turn to fit appropriately and blend (if I watched them do it a couple of times I'd have it sorted in no time, but without them to watch it's taking forever and a day).

So some ideas are there but the knowledge isn't yet, whether I or others like them after the adjustments is another thing but at least I'd have shown the ability to do it :)

                    Tezza,

Look up selection techniques and the different ways to make a one, using these you can apply edits to part of your photo at a time, thereby removing the tissue paper, but not affecting the rest of your image.

                    Steve...:)

Good morning Tez ,as long as you end up with a photo that you think is the bees knees that's a result ,editing a certain amount is OK but don,t forget to enjoy your photography as this is just as important,it will all gradually fall in to place given time:)
