    Well the timing couldn't be better with halloween just days away, I have a bit of a 'who dunnit' going on in our back garden.

    Over the last week we have had a collared dove and two wood pigeons 'murdered', by whom I hear you ask? :scratch:, well here's the clues;
    • Feathers spread over a fairly large area in a sort of circle, sort of rules out a sparrowhawk as they usually leave the feathers in a tighter circle.
    • All kills have happened either at dusk, dawn or even through the night.
    • No body remains have been found just what looks like all the feathers and parts of the wings.
    • The body of one of the wood pigeons was found in a shallow grave under the hedge along with quite a lot of soil displacement; it was only there for one night, something took it the following night.
    Is it possible something killed them and then something else buried it/ate it/robbed the grave I found??

    The suspects;
    • Sparrowhawk; perhaps for the kill but obviously not burying the body.
    • Fox; often seen in the garden at this time of year.
    • Resident Moggie; there are odd ones around but they're not often seen in our garden.
    • or something else??? hhmmmmmm..:scratch::snork:
    Over to you :heehee::biggrin:

                I agree with the verdict that it was a fox.

                The dead give away for me is the hidden body. Foxes often kill more than they can eat, and then hide the kills in various places with the intention of coming back for them later.

                  Ziggy,
                  I think you need to consider removing this thread before Loli logs on,
