It seems after a long battle with our local pigeon population and several attempts to stop them sitting on the feeder all day and filling their crops and leaving nothing for the smaller birds I may have finally got a solution. As a temporary measure I have installed a couple of smaller tables underneath the main table. So far the pigeons have shown no signs of landing on it as they have no space to fly in, or indeed even seeing it, and the small guys can get their fill. If it works out ok over winter I shall make the shelves permanent.

What a clever idea Capney. Have you patented your invention or contacted any commercial bird feeder manufacturers?

I will have to give it a go with mine, but still need a way to sort squirrels.

I had the same problem Robert but I just run two strands of wire around the table and stapled them to it, all the birds can get in and out except the Pigeons.

Pigeons were awarded 30 medals in WWII, more than any other animal.

WWII code "may never be cracked"

I'll save them the bother, it reads:

“10th May 1940 - Germans advancing towards Maginot Line - No need for British help, the French will stand firm”
