I love those holey walls, time they came back into fashion.

Would look nice painted, but you're gonna have to do the job properly, not just the front face.

I'd go with the cream Sandtex to harmonise with the flagstones or the moss blend, that's be cool.

I've done a photo edit for you FC to show you what it looks like painted white with black coping on the top.
I've also took a liberty and added some black planters in place of the green you have, and also added a soupçon of red highlights for your delectability.

      What do you think??

I can't stand them to be honest, but as I rent the place I have little choice.

The only reason I was thinking of doing the front face only was to prevent it going through to my neighbours side, or to prevent their side from looking odd?

How about fixing some of that bamboo/wicker screening to your side. You could just tie it on & it won't damage any thing.

You could plant a clematis montana to scramble along it it would cover up the wall in no time.

I like Helen's suggestion bamboo or willow fence

If "painting" I would go for Lime Wash

FC, if you hate it that much have you thought of asking your landlady if you can replace it. I know the expense is down to you but it's worth a thought. :)

I never thought of screening! Now that could be the very idea - thanks Helen! :)

My landlady probably would let me replace the wall if I was to bear the cost - I'm just not sure that I am prepared to bear that sort of cost to be honest; doing that would have to be a case of getting a pro in, as I am no bricklayer, and round here I'd imagine that would be costly.

If you go for a roll of Willow Fencing you can always up sticks and take it with you

I think that might well be the winning idea Jack - I think I will wait until the spring (not least to let my bank recover after finding the deposit for the car!), and then try and mount the planters up near the top of the wall with trailing plants in them - I can then fit willow screening against the wall and maybe give the screening a light coloured wash coat (off white or something?)

I think the natural willow screen option sounds good FC . Wilkos may still have it , or your local GC .Painted concrete can look a bit iffy sometimes.
