Oh flipping heck, got rushed down to emergency doc, :ouch1: just been back a while.

Had a crushing pain(third time since June) in back and chest. Frightens the life out of me. :yikes:

ECG and other tests, all turned out okay. Put down to a panic attack, now added to the 12 types of tablets I take every day, I am now on Diazepam. Staring to be a tablet junkie :wallbang: Just resting for the rest of the day.

You might find blowing into a brown paper bag might help you Lili. Deep Breaths too.

My son says I am a tablet junkie as I take about 18 to 20 tablets a day. I think the statins cause me most problems, them and the tramadol.

Yeah, I'm just like you, having to take a major lot of pills. Tramadol, not being one of them, found out to be allergic to them, does bad things with my head. :hate-shocked:

I think the reasoning behind it is that while you are concentrating on your breathing you relax without realising it and that causes the attack to subside. It is certainly worth a try it is what the medics recommend.

          Hi moyra

I am a 1st aider in work , and you must not use a paper bag, we are now taught just to relax the person and slow down the breathing by counting is best as you can have the opposite effect of lack of oxygen which can cause other problems , I dont normally correct what others have said on here but I thought I on this occasion best thing to do.

I'm not doubting you, but I'm intrigued. I've heard the brown paper bag thing many times, and just took it as accepted practice.

Is it because you're effectively breathing spent air?
