Hi I bought 18 bags of JAB MPC and all my hanging basket and tubs have been dreadful, my beans and sweet peas only grow to half the height the only common denominator was the compost. I started them of in JAB seed compost and only half came up then potted on all my bought plant and own plants with JAB john inns2 and they bearly grow.I will never us JAB again this is why I have been interested in which compost others are useing, my freind used ASDA MPC and has had a brilient show it is so confusing with so many on sale

I've been using JAB MPC for years. I've bought at least 50 bags this year. No complaints with it at all ... so not sure why you have had a problem. Maybe a bad batch perhaps

I should write to them and see what they have to say. They are a reputable brand and 18 bags isn't exactly cheap ...

I have been in contact with the suppliers and the people I had most of my plants from and they have given me a refund for the plants but as I said before the common denominator is the compost, its such a waste of time, money and effort I feel like not doing the garden again but next year is another year

    Welcome to Gardeners Corner:sign0016:

It has been a bad year for a lot of crops with the lack of sun, might not just be the compost thats to blame.

        Hallo Jean,:spinning:
when you have a chance to browse here in Gardeners Corner, you will see many sad tales of our "less than best " laments. But it helps to know it wasn't just you. :sign0016:
I feel a wee bit sorry for some of the Commercial nurseries. They've had a pretty rough year as well as us.Their bonuses may be a few quid short this Christmas.

Well, we all know by now that there's been some dodgy compost on the market this year. So what about next year? Are you going to stick with the same?

Although B & Q's Verve multi-compost was probably one of the better ones this year, it too was not up to it's usual standard. As some of you have probably read I've had problems with fungus gnats indoors since re-potting my plants in the summer and that was down to Verve, apparently B & Q have reduced their screening process and the amount of peat content.

I bought Levingtons multi purpose yesterday to re-pot with again today and so far I'm pleased with it. A good clean compost and felt better when handled as well. Although it's cost me twice as much to buy, £6.99 for 75 litres I may well stick with it for the new season next year. :)
