    I've often read about comfrey fertiliser and thought I should get some plants... It turns out the weeds I've been pulling from all over the place have in fact been comfrey!
    Dammit, all that wasted fertiliser! I guess I should have looked up the pictures a bit sooner.

      If you put your weeds on your compost heap then you haven't really wasted anything :blue thumb:

        If I understand correctly, comfrey is one of those weeds that just grows thicker and faster the more you pull it, once its established that is. That being the case you'll probably get loads off it in future.

        Only problem being that I either dig out the root or squirt a little roundup on it... There shouldn't be a problem though - they pop up all over the garden so I'm bound to get more:) Will look at seeds for you Mum!

          you might even order some nice looking cultivars:cool: - that way you have nice plants and good fertilizer, there are even sterile cultivars....so no problems with seeds

          Assuming its not a sterile one like Bocking 14, there'll be thousands of seeds on the floor anyway. Besides which, if its well established, you wont have dug all the roots out because they go down forever.

          Definitely recommend that you plant the "Bocking-14" sterile cultivar, the self-seeding "fertile" (boy is it fertile!) variety is a real nuisance, but I suppose if you can cut it down to harvest a crop-of-leaves before it flowers then it may be OK to tollerate.
