I was always told that the best way to get rid of Staines was to Nuke Middlesex.

Difficult with stains .. we only drink black tea (Earl Grey) and/or green/herbal teas and although Shiney says wash your cup immediately I do but my 'special mug' with cats on is some 20 years old plus and I am sure the finish has gone slightly.

I can't buy soda crystals here that I know of so I will continue with my methods I have available to me.

Some cups are worse than others and some teas are worse than others. It's in the nature of tea to stain cups. I don't think washing immediately makes much difference.

Any kind of scouring is not a good idea when it comes teacups or any other kind of glazed ceramic. Scouring will quickly remove stains and probably some of the glaze so that they will then stain even more easily.

Seems a bit of a cop out to me :) :love30:. Cup and mug manufacturers know that tea stains and make them to be resistant to it. I drink a lot of tea (Assam is my favourite), wash them after use and our cups and mugs are spotless. Some of them are well over 20 years old.

I don't wash them 'immediately' but wash them when I take them back into the kitchen. :blue thumb:

Talking of getting rid of things, how do you get rid of squirrels?

I always seem to leave some tea in the bottom as well. I don't rush off to the kitchen to wash the cup - too much of an effort to get out of the armchair whilst watching TV or reading a book! :heehee: But it certainly gets done within a few hours.
