A local amateur weather forecaster has predicted a snow storm in Britain in February, apparently he's known to be accurate.

Loveweeds, it's very bizarre indeed.. I was setting out for work this morning and here there was heavy dew on the cars, no frost, none in the garden or on the roof.. as I got about 500 yards away from my work everything became frosty.. it's very strange.. I noticed much of Merseyside (apart from the extreme coasts) got a dose of frost this morning!

Sheal.. we get a snow storm of sorts in Britain every year.. I'm sure this year will be no different. I can assure you we wont get a major snow storm here in the northwest (coastal), but further eastwards may well.

ahh that explains it, I was looking at the wundeground amateur stations, I think West Allerton got down to 1.9C, which would have been a frosty start I'm sure but not lasting too long. Northwich got about -2C I think.. would have been a lovely scene there this morning.

I think this chap was referring to the sort of storm where it freezes the trees as well, not just the snow. We will find out soon enough. :)

The sort of storm that would freeze trees (presumably to death) would be the coldest ever witnessed in the UK.. even the infamous winter portrayed in the novel 'Lorna Doone' was not severe enough to freeze trees.

You'd be looking at the coldest ever winter.

Unless you mean trees white and iced up? If so that happened in 2010! .. not a nice winter.. too much of it.

A friend that lives in Seattle sent us pictures she'd taken last winter, branches were dropping off trees because they were frozen. Having said that, some of the scenes were amazing. :)

Ahhhh, Lorna Doone, my all time favourite novel! :dbgrtmb:

I don't mind November so far, it's been nice and mild. Seems a looong time till March, though.
Merleworld, you could book a fortnight in the Canaries for February? Something to look forward to, you could go plant-hunting and when you get back it'll be Spring-ish.
