Seems to me as though the trees are not giving up those final leaves just yet.
Wind and rain have made their mark, but as I said not all gone so have to wait a while longer.

All I could do is watch in horror as my lawn filled up with water and dreaded the water butts getting to the point where I could not take any more. At least the patio has been completely washed off and all standing water from the lawn and patio seems to have drained away. :yikes:
Note to me, must remember to add sand to the top dressing mix prior to adding to the lawn.:ideaIPB:

I'm surprised anyone's managing to garden at the moment nationwide. Everything seems to have a 'squelch' to it unless it's already under water.

I've been keeping an eye on my Green House although it is reasonably sheltered on three sides, unfortunately the Wind is coming from the SouthWest which is the side it isn't sheltered!!!:dunno::snork:

Yes, Jenny, after I posted this I came across Follyman's thread about his Green House being blown in which is a great shame. But knowing Nick he'll pick up the pieces and put "Humpty Dumpty" back together again. Having said that it prompted me to go outside with a torch and check again.:paladin:

With your greenhouse sheltered on three sides Armandii it should have something to buffet against should the wind be nasty. Is it bolted down?

Hi Sheal, the base is bolted down on the outside and inside. I think it's the glass I'm worried about as it's around £25 a pane for the safety glass. Having said that it's got soft ground on all four sides and from previous experience it does seem to "bounce" well.:snork:

Well you seem to have done all you can Armandii. Mines bolted down too, obviously! I had to replace a pane in mine earlier this year, it's toughened glass and it cost me a fiver to have it cut at a local glaziers. :)

Just heard a bang and went out - my large Fuchsia "Garden News"(which I had to repot a couple of months back 'cos it blew over and split its posh pot) had gone :thud: in a strong gust. Weird out doors - wild and windy but not cold and we haven't got the rain yet. I've wedged it hard up behind the garden bench which is VERY heavy so it won't move anymore. So.......what's next? :sofa:

Well, when my friend and I were building the Green House about 4 years back in the freezing cold, winds and driving rain he handed me a 5' by 18" pane of the supplied Safety Glass. Due to the weight of the glass and the way I'd gripped it with cold fingers it just touched the concrete base..........and dissolved into sugar like granules. I shan't say what I said:gaah::hate-shocked::mute::heehee:
