Potted History: GC Forums

I'll start it off but should let Nathan explain.

Nathan (Webmaster) very kindly started the site and is still running it with the help of his volunteer team of Admin and Mods. They all do a wonderful job

I would guess that he hasn't had time to put together a history (probably hasn't thought about it) but I think it would be a good idea. Some of us might be able to add memories of the earlier days.

 

Pete has been here a bit longer than me, then Paladin Daisees jjorddi & myself around the same time, Victoria, Woo a bit later & the list goes on really I cannot name them all, some great people have come & gone, some not so great , but GC has steadily grown to what you see today..

We have undergone some times of great upheaval & come back as a great new board every time with the help of Nathan, Rich, Daisees & some input from myself The number of forums increased every time, which I think is what Nathan has always wanted.. He has attreacted the attention of magazines several times with GC too & it has been in print..
It is continuing to rise in the ratings & long may it last..

We have had several great staff teams over the years & I have been lucky enough to be part of the team from very early on, Pete Woo Paladin & Victoria have all had stints as mods, jjorddi & Banana Man were both admin for a while as was SussexGardener..
The currant team of Daisees Zigs Armadii Aesculus & myself works really well together & I know Clueless will fit in with ease...

That is all I can think of for the moment, hope that helps a bit Mum..

 

With regard to the time members joined:-

Nathan is shown as starting the forum on 21/12/04 with Pete close on his heels in Jan '05. Of the still active members that I can remember being early ones we have, in order of joining:- all in May '05 - Marley, Paladin, jjordie and Daisees. Moyra was September '05 and Palustris Oct '05. Then in '06, in order of joining:- strongy, roders, Kandy, Bananaman,Victoria, Me and Woo.

Apologies to any early members that I've missed out

Some very nice and informative members have fallen by the wayside but many more have joined.

An enormous thank you to Nathan, all the staff (present and past) and to all you wonderful members that make GC what it is - a friendly and knowledgeable family.
