Agreed. I've lowered the paths in mine, rather than raising the beds. (in fact I lowered the beds too to get more cropping height, and the paths lower still to get the effect of better drainage that raised beds give)

Its due to you doing that and seeing the shots of it on your blog, that when I move my first tunnel next year, I will be doing the same to get that extra growing height, I'm also devising a way to raise the actual tunnel structure itself for even more height.

      Steve...:)

If I was building another glasshouse, for "overwintering stuff", I would excavate so that it was "in-ground" like the Victorians used to do. Flight of steps down into the greenhouse, and only the pitched part of the roof above-ground. All the benefit from soil/ground heat in the winter (and probably cooling benefit in the Summer)

Bit different just for Summer Crops though - just need decent height for them :)

Yup, except not much cropping height in that configuration ... but I expect if you lower the "staging" then its quite dark, with no side-wall glass.

Its a bit like a cold frame that you can also walk in, eh?!!

Long time since I've been in one and I can't remember whether the staging was low, or the cropping height was low (as per your photo).
