New Bridge Camera

    Good afternoon all my friends,I have always had a Bridge camera as my second camera after my DSLR's,and have decided to give my present Bridge camera to my son,so I am going to purchase a new one for myself,your opinions would really. be appreciated and valued:)

    Its a choice of either :)
    1The Cannon SX 50 with a 50x zoom equivalent (1200)mm

    2.Panasonic FZ 200 with a 24x zoom equivalent(600)mm
    offering 2.8 aperture throughout the range

      Its a no brainer really this one Woo...go for the canon as you take quite a few wildlife shots and 1200mm will be excellent for that.

      I would normally compare the two at dpreview, but it appears the site is down at present...I'll try again later and give a more informed opinion (its so much easier to compare them side by side) But from your wildlife shots I would go for the Canon.

      There is an excellent running series on Pan fz200 use and comparrison by Graham Horton on youtube. I followed the one on the Pan fz150 when I bought mine. Worth a look Woo, he makes everything so clear.

      Thankyou A, the only negative is the slow focusing of the zoom which naturally is automatic meaning fast moving/flying shots of wildlife are difficult.
      I don't know if the fz200 has improved on it or not.

      Well, the Pan has good reviews in all the reviews that I've looked at and has had high scores regarding resolution, ease of control, and the articulated LCD screen.

      The Canon also is highly rated although there are some comments about it being a bit tight for the fingers around the lens grip. It has the same amount of mega pixels for the sensor and the sensor is more highly rated........decisions, decisions, decisions:snork:

      Side by side comparison for those interested..

      Looking through the specs and based soley on that, I would still go for the canon, that extra reach and extra ISO options are a great boon. But apart from a few minor differences between them both they are almost identical so my next step would be to search the web for images from these cameras for a quality check..search photo forums rather than review sites. Its worth taking the time to do as you'll be spending a few hundred quid on one eventually.

          I gave up on the Nikon P500 (sold it), too front heavy and that was 36x not 42x. I couldn't hold it steady without support and the battery life was poor.
          It had such good reviews too, so many people were happy with it but not me.

            The live view facility on the canon can be an advantage, particularly in situations where manual focus is being used.

                  The shops where you live must fear you coming in Scrungee, as you approach the store the manager tells the staff "Put a tenner in his pocket and give him what he wants"

                  We got Anne's for around £227 on the "grey" market, so called because it's imported cameras for the non uk market, so are cheaper. It's all legal and above board but by buying cheaper non UK market goods you do not get a warranty..ie you take a chance.We got it at http://www.digitalrev.com/ and its price is going up now. Anne also got a camera strap, memory card and bag for the price too...and free shipping.
