Since Sunday wasn't a bad day weather wise I took the camera and 3 lenses and had a little walk around Shakely Mere which lies between Middlewich and Knutsford in Cheshire. Surprisingly there weren't all many people there so it was nice just to amble around. I was hoping to see the Great Crested Grebe which I had seen there some years back, but fail to catch sight of this time. The first chap I did see was this:

He was a real show off and, I think, after a reward for being so obliging!

I'll see him next time I go and make sure he gets a good feed.

Here's another part of the walk around Shakely Mere and what I saw. I didn't really go well prepared and so didn't spend as much time as I would have like to have done. However, on the next time!

What surprised me was that the Mere was still frozen quite hard so the Ducks were slipping and sliding all over the place.:snork:

I've no idea what this bird is but he/she was all on it's own and seem quite happy to let me get reasonably close [so long as I sat on the floor!].

Lovely pics Armandii, I went for a walk round there a few months ago and we were mobbed by the flocks of canada geese :hate-shocked::runforhills::heehee:

I remember that lone white duck too...

The mystery duck is a muscovy, it's a famous old character of the mere, there used to be a couple. They quite often wander into anglers bivvies and help themselves to their bait - bold as brass :heehee:
