          Thanks :)

I'll endeavour to try and update as we go along (if I remember I will add it to the original spreadsheet and upload it as a PDF if that would help more?)

I have one other product to add, and its to avoid - Tesco Gold Coffee; a tin of this was bought for the office at work recently, and nobody liked it! Minging is an understatement.

The sad fact is ,for me anyway, there is little choice but supermarkets, my nearest is Aldi, I could walk there at a push, and find you have to get to know whats any good,I love their tinned mushy peas 4p a tin on special, usually about 10p, I like their baked beans, last time I bought H@#nz ,it was a tin of tomato sauce with a few beans sunk at the bottom, I like their chickens, not organic, but I can buy 2 chicken legs, use 1 freeze 1 for 1-29, and because they have a high turnover, usually fresh.
I find a lot of the supermarkets, employ untrained staff, I asked the 1 in Mo@@$%#ns once who filled the freezers, he puffed out his chest and said me, I replied didn`t anybody explain about load lines, as it was earlyish morning, most of the products on top would have been de-frosted by time some unwitting person purchased them. This problem then goes across all lines as shelf fillers paid peanuts will not rotate stock, they are given a load of items to fill up, a time to do it and get back for next lot, so they just push it in any space on shelf.

I buy smart price red kidney beans, chopped tomatoes, peeled plum tomatoes, pasta, red leicester cheese and am willing to give other items a go too. This is a good thread! Thanks for that list, it's helpful to know what's good and what's pants!

Well, went to Tesco's yesterday at 2.30 p.m, bagged £47 worth of food, priced down and I bought it for £16, mostly fillet steak, chicken in mulled wine sauce, some pastry products, bread and cakes to put in the freezer. So i was well chuffed.

Yay Liliana! :ccheers:Result! When d'you reckon is the best time to visit a supermarket to get a decent crop of reduced goodies?

I'm planning a Christmas Eve trawl.

I especially enjoy going to M&££T*&^s and spending my £5 petrol voucher entirely in the reduced fridge. Oh yes, nothing but the best in Madahlia Mansions.

We have Tesco, Asda and Aldi in our town and we do use them all for food shopping; mainly the two former ones. We always go in looking for offers on branded stuff, which at times are very good when they're on; a pack of 4 cans of Branston baked beans for example for £1. But we also head for the reduced shelves (woops items), a lot of the time these are short dated but reduced simply because the box may be damaged etc..

We do buy their own stuff too, our boys love tins of beans & sausages and we've tried a few different ones, definitely avoid Asda's cheapest one it can only be described as re-formed cat food :heehee::eeew: and yet their other self branded ones that are about 25p more are lovely....

We use Aldi for cheap veg a lot as we have guinea pigs to feed, they regularly have a super six offer on, cucumbers, celery etc as cheap as 39p sometimes. We don't get much else from there but to be fair we've not really taken the time to try things.

Also for food, expecially frozen stuff we use Farmfoods, Iceland (very good at times) & Fultons.

For toiletries we have bargain stores Home Bargains, B&M Bargains and Family Bargains in our town all of which sell branded toiletries, cleaning stuff etc considerably cheaper than the supermarkets.

Wilkinsons is worth keeping an eye on for toiletries and cleaning items too as when they have offers on they're often less than half price..:dbgrtmb:

Serves you right for drinking instant coffee which is all minging, IMO!
Try Aldi's Java ground coffee at £1.99, or, even cheaper, Lidl's 500gm pack for about £3.50.
It's my treat for those mornings when I'm not at work and I almost never drink instant now.

We liked The Aldi filter coffee, the French one, cannot remember the specifics. It is a choice of French, American, Italian and I am sure a 4th type.
