Tomorrow is 12th December 2012, aka doomsday. At least that's according to some interpretations of the Mayan calendar.

Just as a precautionary measure, I'm going to put a pan on my head and sit under the stairs, and I probably wont tell the boss to get stuffed just in case I have to sheepishly eat humble pie if the Mayans were wrong.

No Clueless, tomorrow is 21 December 2012 not 12 December 2012.

This is all cack, unless you are Mayan, and they all died whenever.

If the Mayans could predict when the world would end, why did they NOT predict when their life ended?

It's odd the 21 12 12 .. are the numbers a clue? Hey Clueless ... give us your interpretations please!

Admit it ... you got it wrong, but 12 12 12 would have made more sense, but the Mayans were obviously not clever.

And what does that have to do with the price of tuna or mayo ... or even the end of the world? :dunno:

 It was always a Typo.
the guy meant to write 21 12 21.
A palindrome for a Mayan. It would be better if they had been Mayam - maybe that's a typo as well:scratch:

But did they actually know or understand numbers and more importantly, dates when they are put in numbers rather than words? For an example, did they know that 12 meant December and even more importantly were they in America or Europe because as we all know in Europe it is days/months/years and America has this weird system of months/days/years ... so is it 21 12 12 or 12 21 12 ... and why wasn't it 12 12 12 ??? :dunno:

Their calendar system was based on a system nothing at all like our current system. The Mayans didn't pick 21/12/2012, that was calculated by modern folk attempting to translate the Mayan hieroglyphics.

My original post was meant to be tongue in cheek, because many people are taking this one, oversimplified interpretation, literally. According to the BBC, as many as 10% of the UK population are actually worried about it.

The actual end of the Mayan calendar is just that, their calendar runs out. For the rest of us, the calendar runs out on 31st December, and it does so every year. Then we get a new one starting the next day. Same with the Mayan calendar, except their cycle spanned several millenia, and their current one is, according to some interpretations, due to run out tomorrow.

The printers are a bit behind on the order for the new Mayan Calendar, though they should have them out by the 25th
