Hi, I have two of these lovely plants and I think they are a Succulant !! If they arn't then I'll post in another forum.

They look pretty healthy and are growing new 'bits' but there appears to be a fungus type 'stuff' growing on it albeit only in a few places and a few of the leaves are looking a little yellow!

    Any ideas please?

      Hi,
Do you have a picture of the plant? I've had this plant for years and no problems at all!! A fungus that would be unusual. mine sits on the bathroom window sill all year long, but not much water this time of year, do you get the strange chinese lanten flowers? I also have Ceropegia Barkleyii which is very similar, some ceropegias have very strange large blooms. I'll go and look for a picture to post....
I have some small cacti & succs for swaps, if you fancy starting a collection, not done it for years, but hope to grow some from seed in the new year!! so more plants for swaps, etc..

as usual comments and advice welcome..

        Hi Stingo,
How long have you had these plants? they should be resting now not making "New bits" People often make the mistake of thinking that Cacti grow in real deserts like the Sahara, no they often grow on pasture or meadow land, sometimes in shade. So they never get watered or watered at the wrong time of year, when they should be resting, all plants need a rest!! Look in the garden....

        Hi Stingo,
How long have you had these plants? People often make the mistake of thinking that Cacti grow in real deserts like the Sahara, but they often grow on meadow and pasture land, even partly shaded. Some even in the shade of trees, as they grow in the crooks and clefts, rooted in what ever happens to be there! So often they don't get watered enough or not at all, if it don't feed, it don't grow! Or watered at the wrong time of year, all plants need a rest, take a look in the garden, Winter not a lot is happening.... Look forward to the pics.

Mine too is in the bathroom window and grows well there.............
          DSC_0147.jpg

The only mould is that which is growing on the walls of the bathroom itself as I need to fit an extractor fan and the job of boring through 45cm of solid stone wall has been put off until the spring!

These photos were taken a few minutes ago, and here is the new growth emerging on mine.............
          DSC_0150.jpg

In addition, it is forming aerial tubers which I either snip off and start new plants or loop round and poke them into the pot.
          DSC_0148.jpg

One of these is going to be planted in the garden next year as an experiment.

It gets watered once every couple of weeks at this time of year.

            Hi longK,
That's a very nice plant, used to grow mine in a hanging pot! (Think's I might again). The picture of the new growth, this looks a bit etiolated, ie could do with a bit more light up there! The aerial tubers usually grow away OK, a few in the rockery for the Summer, yes why not!! Does it flower well?

The new shoots could certainly use a little extra light, but they'll soon tumble down and find it. It does flower well - far better than the C.sandersonii did after the house move. I'm thinking that I'll be sinking them in the pots outdoors and then lift in the autumn.

            Hi,
I too had C.sandersonii, that's the one with a larger flower white inside? Also C.stapeliformis but it never flowered for me.

That's a real beauty that one! I first saw that at Oxfords botanic gardens and is the one that got me interested in them in the first place.

Wow, that's a beauty longk, Cactusface, I bought them last spring so not had them long and I would love to do some swaps although that is the only succulant I have at the moment, I do grow my flowers for the garden from seed if that would interest you?

                Hi Stingo,
Are your plants growing well, I can't believe you've had no flowers yet. Mine grows up a small plastic trellis, but think I'll move it to a hanging pot, to give the roots more space and it's a bit tidier that way.

I have just jointed the BCSS (British Cactus & Succs Soc'y) you can join for £4 as an associate member the only difference being you don't receive the quarterly Journal, otherwise it's £12-15. Well worth it! I have just ordered from them 24 packs of named seeds at 30p a packet, you can't get cheaper then this. I usually grow all my own bedding and boarder stuff, but if you have anything unusual ! may be. Still waiting to see your pics.

I have Aeschynanthus marmoratus (a succulent type Gesneriad in truth) that I would be happy to share a few cuttings of in the spring...............
