Socks, pants, a book and smellies. Had a great day at the inlaws ate too much. I am looking forward to taking my son up the park on his new bike weather permitting.

I got the usual two or three jumpers and some sweets. Also a couple of new books. As for most people with kids though, it was mostly about our son. He was non-stop buzzing all day.

Do you live in a large country mansion?

I saw a program once that said the gardeners were not allowed to be seen by 'distinguished' guests, so in addition to being skilled gardeners/groundsmen, they also had to perfect the art of hiding if they heard someone coming:lunapic 130165696578242 5:

I want to know why you have to buy someone something on this particular day?

Can you not buy that someone that special something on any day of the year?

Maybe we live in a different world, but I and my t'other half have everything we want or need. If, not at Christmastime, we want or need something we just buy it for ourself or for the other .. and it is often a surprise! I last month bought t'other half 1 kilo of spearmint leaves sweets which he has not had in years. Cost me a fortune because the postage cost more than the gift ... but who cares?

To me it seems almost false buying something that you have both gone out and chosen and then wrapping it up and then we go 'Oh, goodness, what a surprise, thank you darling!' although it was you who chose it and the other had to wrap it and stick it under the tree so you could make some false surprise comment ... what is that all about, I ask? A joke and a half!

                        Sorry, not my scene.

I agree Victoria! I think it was on one of Chitting Kaz's threads, people seem to have forgotten what Christmas should be about. I'm not religious, but I'm not on the commercial bandwagon either. :)

That's the beauty of choice though, isn't it?

For those who believe in the religious meaning: it is theirs to behold and enjoy.
For those who enjoy the ceremony, surprise and exchange of it: it is theirs to indulge and enjoy.
For those who do not wish to participate: that is their right to exercise and enjoy.

Personally, I don't question anyones decision on how they enjoy it: it is *their* right to choose how to spend it; I respect that, not question it.
