Whilst we had the inlaws and my mom yest for chrissy dinner, I had some lovely compliments on the garden! :blue thumb: to me, it looks drab with no colour and just the likes of the bamboo, fatsia, palms and the cordys for structure, but they thought it looked very "neat" and colourful. Sitting here looking out on the garden, I think that the green of the grass and plants against the black fences make it look more colourful. I was worried when I did the fences black that come the winter and the dull days that it would look oppressive but I think it has the opposite effect.

Another day closer to spring, the colour will soon be back!

Structure and evergreen, that's the answer.

That's what I go for myself.

One Q. (I always like to throw in a question. ) Do you actually use that garden seat in front of your bed? If you don't, then perhaps it detracts from the view of your plants. If it's used, then fine.

It's a lovely garden, though. Thumbs up.

Thanks guys! The yukka was fleeced until it went mild again, don't want to risk losing that! :blue thumb:

Kindred, the seat does get used, and in the Sumer it was on re opposite side.

The lawn is a bit trashed at the moment having had all the mixers, and tools from when I'd ad the front garden done a few months back, but will come back, overall.

I wouldn't worry about that. Lots of lawns are a bit trashed at the moment, partly because its been so wet and sloppy so those of us on clay now have big worn out compacted waterlogged patches. It'll all come back in spring I reckon, with a bit of top dressing and over seeding.
