Oh, i've got the crinkle cutter stabby thing, its just that Willow thought i'd done it with a knife:doh:

Remember being amazed as a kid at the little curls of butter at breakfast in hotels. Till I saw how they were made.

My mother in law bought me a genuine baileys so I poured a glass of each to test them. Almost identical!

Sainsburys Lemon Curd - 22p a jar and really quite pleasant. Sure, its not just as thick as Gales, or maybe not just as tangy, but at 22p a jar its perfectly acceptable.

That's worth remembering FC. You can always stir some lemon juice into it if you need more tang.

To be honest, I like it as it is - lemon curd is one of those things that I will take a notion for, have once then leave the jar in the fridge for weeks until I sling it out; the branded stuff is over a quid a jar nowadays, so its a hell of a waste.

Ironically, the jar of the cheapo basics stuff that I bought has been demolished - even the wee one likes it.

Quorn Family Roast at Asda - £3 each or £3 for 2. So how many did I buy, one or two - neither, I bought enough to fill top up our freezers to bursting point. When a good offer comes along don't dither or just buy a couple - stockpile!

Quorn! (perhaps something resembling white chicken breast meat, but it's been 25 years or so since I last tasted any).

The big saving on these comes from letting some/all go cold, slicing thinly and using as a cheaper alternative (33p/100g) to Quorn 'Chicken' Deli slices (£1.50/100g)in sandwiches/rolls. Also cheaper than cheese.

            Hows about this then?

Did my usual Sunday afternoon shopping at Tesco's, spent £24.04 for goods that would have cost £85.93, I was well pleased. :yay:

I've picked up a lovely piece of pork in a local supermarket for roasting. Reared outside on the island and £3 cheaper than Tesco's. :)

Well, of all the places I thought I wouldn't get a bargain, it was Marks and Spencers - but we did well when we popped in there on Friday; best of it is, we only went there because we had a gift card to use (so it all felt like it was free anyway) but even if I was paying with beer tokens it would still have been a good deal - anyway, here are the bargains:

Puff Pastry Deep Fill Chicken Pie (large) £2.92 (with 20% off normal price) - - had this for dinner last night, and it was handsome.

Raspberry and coconut macaroon desert - £2 (looks lovely, hopefully be eaten later)

and the real bargain - Roast for two for £5

As part of this offer, they had included their Oakham Chickens (thick end of £6 on its own), and all sorts of veg - so we got a nice chunky chicken, a lovely cabbage and a bag of Maris Pipers for a fiver; best of it is, with the exception of a few more potatoes we are going to get two days dinners out of it for three of us.

I do like Marks for a wee treat.
