 I have searched for many years for a poem I read by chance as a child at an old Aunts house.. I have never been able to remember it's name, who wrote or how it started of course, yet it has niggled away at the back of my mind all these years,as a child I read allot of poetry sadly no much now though..
This one though illuded me until today.... I was looking at 2nd hand books on a market stall & I spotted a book of assorted poems.. Was flicking through & there is was.!!!!!! :yahoo:I don't know if any of you are lovers of poetry but I shall share the 1st verse of many, with you as I am so pleased to have found it.....

    A Thing of Beauty (Endymion)

A thing of beauty is a joy for ever:
Its lovliness increases; it will never
Pass into nothingness; but still will keep
A bower quiet for us, and a sleep
Full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.
Therefore, on every morrow, are we wreathing
A flowery band to bind us to the earth,
Spite of despondence, of the inhuman dearth
Of noble natures, of the gloomy days,
Of all the unhealthy and o'er-darkn'd ways
Made for our searching: yes, in spite of all,
Some shape of beauty moves away the pall
From our dark spirits. Such the sun, the moon,
Trees old and young, sprouting a shady boon
For simple sheep; and such are daffodils
With the green world they live in; and clear rills
That for themselves a cooling covert make
'Gainst the hot season; the mid-forest brake,
Rich with a sprinkling of fair musk-rose blooms:
And such too is the grandeur of the dooms
    We have imagined for the mighty dead;
An endless fountain of immortal drink,
Pouring unto us from the heaven's brink.
    John Keats

That is so beautiful Marley Farley - even after all the centuries that have gone by since it was first composed. I do wish that prose like this hadn't passed me by as a young adult,
              thank you,
              Jenny

                Ahhh, another neat word kafuffle

I used to have a old song I liked to sing as a young teenager, "beautiful dreamer"
I can still hum the tune now.

There are also some "deep" thoughtful books read in high school I want to re-read as with age / experiances will change most likely change the meaning from them. Such as "Waldons Pond".
