    I'm not doing the whole resolution thing this year. Get super fit? Lose 3 stone by summer? Be nice to everybody all the time? Nah, nothing like that. Resolutions almost always fail because we try to change too drastically too quickly, so this year instead of one big change, I intend to make lots of little changes. Such as:

    * Start forming an exit strategy for the job that I'm really not happy in. That will entail rebuilding some former business relationships I have that have gone a bit cold lately, and also looking at my skills, looking at what people are after, and making sure I'm up-to-date.

    * Leave the car on the drive much more. Redcar is not a big town. From my house, I can get to most parts of town within 30 minutes on foot, and to be honest, half the time that's less hassle than getting the car out because then I don't have to think about where to park it, and I don't have one pocket permanently full of keys.

    * Maintain contact with old friends. I went out for a night out with Neandertal Paul the other night. It was the first time in ages we'd done that, and we both agreed that it was tremendous fun and that we've both been neglecting our friends too much. We made a pact (which will probably get broken but if we try to stick to it it will help) that we will go out into town at least once a month, and we will try to gather up as many of our old mates as possible.

    * Start planning an exit strategy for the career I'm bored with. Not quite as important as getting out of the job I don't like, because I don't mind what I do that much, but I am bored with it and would like to do something different. That's been the case for years now. Its time I at least started to think about an actual plan to do something about it.

    * I might shave my face. I grew a beard years ago just to see if I could. I could. I never got round to shaving it off.

    * Buy some new clothes. I've realised I have two kinds of clothes. The clothes I go to work in at my paid job, and scruffy worn out stuff for everything else. That's been enough, but when Paul and I went out boozing, as much fun as we had, I didn't half feel like a scruff. I need some glad rags. I need to get some vanity back. Not too much, no fake tans, no blonde streaked mullet, no single item of clothing costing more than the cost of a night out. Just presentable.

    So, anyone else got any resolutions or little changes planned?

      #1 - get clueless to choose an avatar

      #2 - Meet up with a certain member that I should have met up with about 30 years ago.

      #3 - Bring an end to this stupid recession by implementing an emergency measure to dig for victory again.

            My daughter has the right idea - 'Why make resolutions and thus set yourself up for inevitable disappointment' :heehee:

              I've never been one to make NY resolutions per se.

              But, it is as good a time as any to reflect on where you've been, where you are at, where you want to be and how you intend to get there.

                  A major one for me has to be controlling my internet addiction. Trouble is, I rather like it. Probably addicts say that about heroin.

                  Clueless, I can't believe you've got a beard! AFAIC you are about 5 10, clean-shaven, short hair, thin, wiry and energetic!

                    * about 5 10 - Absolutely bang on
                    * clean-shaven - Not for about 15 years now
                    * short hair - Bang on again, very short. I use barber's sheers with no guard,
                    * thin, wiry - Not for a about 15 years:)
                    * and energetic! - Sometimes. On average I think I feel about my age. Sometimes I feel about 18, but as the mathematics of average require, that means I sometimes feel about 118:)

                          There we go. Not even back at work yet and I'm already in correspondence with a lady who runs a company at a very nice business park where I used to work:)

                          Will also be dropping a nice new year's greeting email to another lady that runs another company that I have a tenuous connection with.
