And contrary to popular belief, I didn't lay poisoned bait down the following night, but he ate it all!

As much as its horrible when it happens, and for a lot of years I personally hated the fox as a species because of it, but its just trying to survive the only way it knows how. They kill everything they can, but can only carry so much, so they only take one kill, and if nothing or nobody cleans up the remainder, the fox would come back night after night to collect more.

Really its no different to us buying way more than we need and then sticking it in the freezer or the cupboards until we can use it.

Regarding the tags thread - having been an Admin before, I'd rather ignore a 'feature' that does not appear to work (or work well) than beleagure the Owner. Tagging is not vital to the success of this forum, or its members and if it gets fixed over time then okay but right now, it's not an issue.

I started a soft fruit enclosure in my first year of owning the place. Mostly goosegogs. Rabbits destroyed my plantation within a week (literally). I have other plans for the land now.

e2a: @ Clueless - I'm gutted for you. How dispiriting that is.

The tagging thingy seems to have a few glitches at the moment Jenny. Mum has made a post in the tagging thread to let the admin team know.

So sorry to hear that vince-ocry3:

Maybe in the country, but not in suburbia.

A fox made its way into my wooden, "traditional" coop early in 2011 and took all the birds. Nothing was left (trust me, we scoured the place!)

Also, last year, I was tending my veg patch, my chooks were free ranging merrily and no more than 6 feet away from me, mid day, broad daylight, I turned to find a fox had my Fatty Hatty in his jaws! :hate-shocked: I've never ran so fast, nor GRRRR'ed so loud :gaah: .... caveman like .. in my life! The fox dropped the chicken, legged it over a fence: I grabbed the hen put her in an outhouse ... the blighter had hopped the fence back into my garden AGAIN! :paladin: Three of my girls had sought refuge *over* the fence, the rest had hidden themselves as best they could. Braveheart's face had nothing on mine as I ran after that fox :catapult: Obviously, I didn't catch up with it. But, it didn't come back during the day after that :phew:

They are opportunists! If they can massacre many they will! Even if they are not hungry, they will do it for sport: simply, because they *can*.

Learning curve and all that. Try something, it doesn't work, you then have two choices. Either sulk and walk away, or learn from it and try something else. I always choose the latter.

Being "my age" and from "my neck of the woods", you'll know the crazy alternative meaning to being "touched"! But thank you - I am honoured!
