I'm using lights on timers, thermostatically controlled propogators on timers and a fan on a timer. (timers are £4 each at Wilkos)

        Thanks Lolli :)

I'm using those cheap mechanical timers too for the lights and propagator.

What do you use the fan for Scrungee?

A Maplin computer fan with a 12v DC supply will extract heat from my growbox to cool things down a bit, especially when then lights are on, but I'm also looking at connecting/switching/timing it to a 6v or 9v supply to slow it down a bit as and when when required,

I'm aiming to get the heat up overnight (when the lights are on Economy 7) and down during the day when they're off.

Are you pumping in CO2 Scrungee? Keith Foster does but I can't be inclined to go that far, if I get a naturally grown 2KG onion, I'll be a winner in my own eyes.

Ah I see, good idea, I guess you saw my post where I'd managed to achieve 50 deg C under the growlights.

For a different reason I tried a fan last year under the growlights for my tomato seedlings. I'd read that you get much sturdier plants if they are subject to movement (like brushing them with your hand when watering) and someone had set up a fan to simulate wind. I bought a cheap ebay solar powered car window extractor fan, but it wouldn't work under the growlight. In fact it was pretty rubbish and only worked once in the car if it pointed at the mid-day sun on mid-summer's day. So I'm looking for a replacement idea for this year, I've got an old computer case so it won't cost me anything to copy your idea.

Can't understand that Freddy, they're from the same batch I've had a good germination rate with!

Have you got a suitable mains to DC adaptor? (I used one from an old defunct mini portable TV for my extract fan)

Hiya Vince, no worries, it's probably something I'm doing wrong. I'll give them a few more days....
