then try and get to bed a bit earlier for a few nights FC. How many 25mg are you taking per night? Did you feel clear headed enough to drive to work?
Sorry to bombard you with Q's at this time of night,
    Jenny

Hi Jenny, I had gone to bed by the time you posted last night, but still struggled a wee bit to get up this morning (not as bad as yesterday admittedly); I think I am going to have to experiment when I take them, as I have been taking it about an hour before going to sleep and I think that is too early - I'm going to try taking it pretty much as I am putting the light out and see if that helps.

I did get some pain last night, but not as bad as I can get - somewhat oddly though, I have been noticing pain during the day that I haven't noticed before; its not terribly bad, so I am wondering if it could simply be that I wasn't noticing it before as it was at such a level that I would be considering it 'normal' in comparison to the pain overnight (if that makes sense?)

Early days yet, so I will plod on and see what transpires. I'm on one 25mg a night at the moment, as doctor wanted to make it enough to actually start doing something (apparently they usually start at 10mg a night and work up from there), but not so much that it was going to be too much to cope with or to leave room to adjust as appropriate.

Thankfully I am blessed with a cast iron stomach Moyra, but I am trying not to take anything other than the one pill at night at the moment, so I can get a handle on what it is and isn't doing.

I've only just come across this thread. I'm sorry to hear of your troubles.
My DW had a fantastically bad head fall 4 years ago now and had much associated nerve trouble arising from this accident. Her GP prescribed amitrip and codeine but it didn't take all the pain off. To this day DW suffers still. Bizarrely enough, DW had another bad head fall last year which relieved the pain for a couple of months but it has since returned. From my own experience, and DW's, it's incredibly debilitating having to live with near-constant pain - the only respite being deep sleep. I hope you get your relief soon.

MY sister is on amitryptilinefor chronic back / neck pain and my mrs is on it for restless leg. Takes a short while to 'build up' in your system but should do the job.
Reading through this lot I'm glad I only get occasional back pain! I thought gardening was good for us!!

sorry to hear of your pain :grphg:
dont forget paracetmol and aspirin are aimed to block pain but if you have inflamation ibuprofen is what you need often combining the two at to hourly intervals but best to try what the dr suggests ... hope the work for you XX

FC I am sure you will settle into them fine, it will take about 3 weeks but after that you shouldn't have a problem getting up at least.... ;) I also took them in the day too but I found about 20 mins before bed was a good time.. ;)

You will probably have some funny little twinges here & there as they work their way into your system but then they should disappear... :blue thumb:

Bad morning this morning :sick0026: , stunner of a headache until 2pm and 'peely-wally' as a colleague deftly put it (very pale and sickly looking, for our non-Northern readers). I think that this was a legacy of taking the tablet just before flicking the bedside light off - that, and the fact that we were a wee bit later than normal going to bed last night. So, earlier night for me tonight.

Thanks for all the support, it means a lot to me :grphg:

Jenny namaste - I promise I won't be late to bed (unless I am working late or its not a 'school night' of course; in reality, I think its highly unlikely that you will see me posting after nine for the next week or so until these blighters bed in - tonight its tablet at 8.30 and bed at 9.00

Thanks Jenny :) - I was long gone by the time you posted that.

Bit better today - less 'foggy' than I have been all week, so hopefully that is me starting to turn the corner now.

Any of you ladies and gents that are/have taken this - did you experience a marked increase in pain before it settled in?

The past two nights have been hell, so much so I have pain lasting into the following day.
