:sign0016: to GC forums, Andy :)

You've come to the right place :dbgrtmb: - if you ignore all the mad ones :heehee:

I would suggest you grab yourself a cuppa and a sandwich and have a good look around (you may be some time!).

What style of gardening do you enjoy? Edibles? Flowers? Shrubs? Tropical? Ecclectic?

Thanks for the welcome. I mainly try and grow vegetables and herbs. (as much as I can fit in my garden.) It's so great to eat what you grow. I love it. This year I will also be growing flowers for the first time - although I can't eat them - it will be great to learn and brighten up the garden and hopefuly encourage some wildlife and insects. Thats the main reason I signed up to GC, to get some ideas about flowers. :)

                Hello and welcome:)

Sage needs no introduction as a herb, yet it also produces stunning spikes of purple flowers. Nasturtium is a very low maintenance, easy to grow flowering plant, very pretty, entirely edible. Coriander produces a cloud of tiny white flowers if it goes over, and then just before it dies at the end of the year, the foliage goes a crimson red. English Marigold (calendula) is edible, some people use the petals as a cheap substitute for saffron. Oh, nearly forgot, runner beans were originally brought to the UK for their pretty flowers until someone realised the beans are edible.

Not a flower, but it might also be worth looking up 'rainbow chard' or 'chard - bright lights', both the same thing, just branded different.

There's a lot you can grow that will combine the ornamental garden with the productive one.

                  But .... you can!!!! :dancy:

Here's an "Edible Flowers Guide" (from Thompson & Morgan)

And here's an article from the Telegraph (and a recipe!) on Edible Flowers

And a four page PDF document from the University of Alaska: "A 'starter kit' of edible flowers for the garden and table"

Finally, a short, but interest article from "Delicious" magazine: "Cooking With Edible Flowers"

You'd best grab yourself another cuppa :coffee: :heehee:
