advice re night work and getting a banger car

I need advice. I have a toddler and two elderly ill parents who i care for during waking hrs. And diring night too if they are ill. I am not in brill nick myself and need a car just to get around locally. As i am finding pushing lo around back and for to parents a bit tough. I also need to get some income somehow i get 55quid a week and i do more than the 35 hours caring for my parents willingly as they did it for me. I want to work nights.
I need help getting a banger car and finding night work that os safe - any suggestions?

 

I used to work in nightclubs but i am a bit past it now -lol.

 

Do you get (are you entitled?) to "carers allowance" for the time you are dedicating to your parents?

If you have nightclub experience, are there any "casino's" near to you that you could work the night shift with? Either that, or care homes?

Who will be minding your little one while you are at work? How about while you sleep? And, who will be available to "care" for your parents during the nights you are working?

Have you looked into what assistance your parents may be entitled to, to relieve you of some of the demands upon yourself? What other agencies could provide them with some help?

It's not a topic I am familiar with (father died when I was still very young and I cared for my mother until her demise; but I was still in my 20's then).

 

if you work days looking after your parents and kid I would treasure those night hours to recharge my batteries if I was you.

 

Sorry I have no ideas about safe night jobs, but I do have one concern. When do you plan to sleep? If you are looking after everybody during the day, and working at night, are you not going to literally wear yourself out?

I've known one or two full time carers, and my observation is that too often they are so busy looking after others that they forgot to looking after themselves, to the detriment of their own health.

As for choosing a car, that's the easy bit. There are lots of road worthy bangers available for under £500 these days. Some of them are even decent motors. I too will give you a hand when its time to look.

 

Thanks everyone. Yes we are all getting everything we are entitled to the health visitor made sure of that. The 55 quid i ge a week is carers allowance.
My hubby works afternoons so he will have to cover his daughters night time needs.
Any care my parents need apart from me they would have to pay for. If either of them was sick in the night - i really have no idea im stretched three ways during the day so i can only work nights.
I will look into shop work as i know petrol stations can be a bit dodgy in the night even when they are locked down.
My daughter would go to her nursery in the morns untill she gets a half day place in staye school in sept.

Yep i am getting worn out. I am hoping if i can get a night job i can pay for better care provision for them. Coz im poorley running around after my 3 year old most of the time.

I think i will mull the night job over for a bit and consider sorting the car first so i can get about easier. Mum does get car mobility allowance but if she got another car she would be about 50quid a week worse off and as they run seperate finances that would be disasterous

can you not use your mams car if you are her carer and doing here running around?
dont work all night you will burn your self out and be no use to any one ..... i should know as i am there now !!!! seriously
if you must work evenings try your local chippies takeaways ( chinese ect) if you dont mind cleaning try a cleaning firm to do shops or offices you have actually said how much you need to earn .... why not make some crafty items and sell them these you can make at home in the day or the evening ....

 

Cost of care per hour would be much more than you could earn an hour
As both need care why would they be able to drive and use their car and you need
another one ?
You really can not expect to work all day caring and all night working it does not
compute If they need care in the day, then they need someone there at night as does
your child (If they are unable to care for themselves, How Can they care for a child during the night)

you are missing out on some sort of benefit, Carers, Dla, Mobility, Hba, Chb, Ctc, Wtc, Council Tax Rebate, approx £32k a year tax free Plus your husbands income,​

Which is about double what couples working get​

Would your husband be able to get another part time job?

Have you explored any voluntary agencies/organisations which may be able to offer some assistance for your parents, for free? Anything related to their specific health, age/stage issues?

 

32k a year! even when i was working i only ever had 13k! I will go on entitled to..again and shelve the idea of working nights i think
