I've mentioned before, last year I started off some tomatoes early, a waste of time, effort and electricity, those sown in March out performed the early sowings, I won't be sowing any until March.......

I did manage to grow the heaviest tomato on GC last year, so maybe I have a point?

:dancy: I'm awaiting some Big tomato seeds from Angelina, Sofia, Bulgaria which she has promised me. I will only need a few and will offer surplus to GC,

The seed I've given to Zigs has come from the USA, I don't know what conditions they've endured, so may I suggest 3 seed of each Jack and Loli to maximise chances of germination?

Just a thought! I'll be sowing about 10 of each, hoping for 3 plants from each variety, any surplus will go to friends up the allotment.

I probably won't be in the tomato comp this year, whilst I can keep a few onions in pots, can't see me driving across international borders with a Tomato plant hanging out the window:snork:

Got some drug resealable bags, will start to sort it out tomorrow:dbgrtmb:

My mini 'window cill' size bush toms are now pricked out into 40x cell trays and I've sown some Sungold seeds to produce mother plants to take cuttings from.

                  Hiya Scrunge.

What's the reason for doing this? Do plants taken as cuttings do any better?

I've read + found myself that plants from cuttings fruit lower down (therefore sooner - before blight? - and more fruit per plant) than if grown from seed, it's a bit of fun and I want to check it out a means increasing stock of varieties where I've only got a few seeds (although in this case I've got a few hundred Sungold seeds, but it means I can wast a few if it fails).

                    Hiya Scrunge.

I see. So, for the cuttings, will you be using the growing tip or the side-shoots?
