The Redpolls had disappeared for a week but they came back today, I wonder why?

I too saw little small bird activity yesterday, but this morning the sun is shining and a lot of tooing and froing. Will go and add more fresh food in a while.

Its a goldfinch Kath ,a very rare visitor in my garden, they are supposed to love Niger seeds, they never come for mine.

The Goldfinches often share the feeders with the Redpolls.

We haven't seen a Song Thrush since last January and then only for a week or two and guess what? three turn up today!
They were very nervous, even spooked by a Blackbird, they could be part of a Continental influx.

Anyone else have them? visitor or resident, they have declined drastically so it was nice to see them in the garden. Seem to have lost the Siskins though.

                  This morning, so far,
12 Sparrows, 5 Redpolls, 4 Chaffinches, 3 Goldfinches, 2 Blackbird, 2 Collared Doves one Starling, one Thrush, one Robin and one Woodie.
That would be a fair count if it was the Bird Watch they probably won't appear next weekend!

My Robin seldom goes far away, saw a smaller one Friday, not sure if it`s his mate.
