If a phone or camera has been inactive, Then for GPS you need whilst switched on to move the phone/camera in a figure of 8 on a horizontal plane, at least twice, and the larger figure of eight the better ie 3'x2' rather than a twist of the wrist

Anyone tried the specialist training music downloads for the i-pod, they are good

Mainly for outdoor running/walking, but just as good in the gym

They are a programme, based on beats per min, music, slow fast medium fast slow medium etc and different lengths of time

Myself I use this then "trance music" LOUD the brain eventually only feels the beat and not the PAIN

You have to watch it though, I find at 65yrs that heart rate of 200bpm is a bit much for too long

Ah, that makes sense Jack. It explains how come my phone thinks I'm Roger Banister (I almost achieved a 4 minute mile this evening).

            Here's tonight's route:

            Run02A.jpg

looks ok. Until you notice that the start (the green dot) to the 1 mile mark is considerably shorter than the distance between 1 and 2 miles, so we zoom in on the start.

            Run02B.jpg

Oh dear. The old GPS chip seems to have got itself a bit confused. No wonder the pace stats are a bit skewed because of mile one.

I still think this newfangled technology is impressive. It might take a bit of getting used to but I still think its quite cool for a lightweight pocket sized piece of kit to be able to know almost exactly where in the world you happen to be.

Any way I could link your gps to my weight loss in perspective ? :-)
I could do the green dot to mile one twice a day if so

Jack, somehow I'd never imagined you as a raver. Well done:dbgrtmb:

Encore Une Fois used to be a regular in 'phase 1' or sometimes 'phase 2' of a 3 phase in the good old days. Phase 1 was sort of warm up/everyone arriving. Phase 2 was sort of extended warm up, then at some point around 1AM it was not usual for the music to stop, a countdown to start, then a bi air horn, then all hell breaks loose for phase 3 when you'd get your 200+ bmp banging hardcore.

No wonder I was so well toned in those days:)

I only became a raver, when I became 50 using the Spin Bikes in the Gym
Where I found that the loud beat in your head hid the pain in the legs

I use it all the time at the Gym now on my I-Pod DJ PAUL at Ibiza :-)

I was using Runkeeper, but its rubbish at tracking you. It gets almost 5 stars but more recent reviews highlight an issue since a recent update whereby it keeps dropping GPS and is not accurate for the first mile, exactly what I was seeing.

Now I'm trying Runtastic. Only tried it once. It got a GPS lock very quickly so its off to a promising start.

I went out for an hour earlier and used Runtastic. That too seems pretty accurate.

I'm kind of hope the developers of Runkeeper get their act together, because apart from the GPS problems (pretty major issue in that type of app), the software seems really good.
