I tried tasting the salad cream, with an open mind, just can't get into it. Mayonnaise is my choice for most and mustard for other types of meats.

Don't knock it 'til you've tried it! It sounds like a horrid combination, but it goes together really well.

redstar - salad cream is one of those things that only tastes right for certain things, and absolutely HAS to be Heinz; any other brand simply doesn't taste the same (although Sainsburys manage to come a close second to be fair to them).

fat controller, I think that was the brand, heinz. It leans to much toward Miracle whip which I hate.

FC, not sure about that. :) Unfortunately I'm having to give up bread as it upsets my stomach and as with all things when you can't have it you want it. Oh, for a bacon sarny!

Never heard of Miracle Whip - isn't it amazing the different products that are available around the world?

Sheal - is it the salad cream you are not sure about, or the cheese and strawberry jam roll?

Not tried that one - must give it a shot! Sounds like a variation on Elvis' favourite, peanut butter and jelly?

Mrs C used to like a peanut butter and onion sarnie - never could bring myself to try it.

I sometimes have peanut butter and lettuce. It's better than it sounds.

Stilton, spring onion and cranberry jelly toastie.
Butter the bread on the outside, make the sandwich and fry slowly for 3-4 mins on each side.

    How are you with Marmite?

I sent a jar to a Canadian forum friend (quite some years ago now!).

Her next post on the forum muttered something about opening the jar, taking a spoonful ... running up the end of her garden with the jar at arms length and then burying it!! :hate-shocked: :roflol:

Marmite is delicious in a summer sandwich with iceburg lettuce *drools*

Or, with cottage cheese on a cracker *double drool*

Or, on a crumpet instead of butter (low fat) *triple drool*

.... off to toast a crumpet
