    Welcome home, Jenny!!! :hapydancsmil:

Julie - I've often wondered if I'm the only numpty person who makes a traditional Sunday lunch *year round* (yes, even in Summer - I must be mad ... or hen pecked ... or a slave to Mr Mum's demands/manipulations :dunno: )

Having said that, today I got a reprieve because a) his shift; b) I've not been 100%; and c) I forgot to take a joint out of the freezer  :heehee:

The beauty of cooking a joint is, that it provides more than just one meal. Also, any leftover roast potatoes or yorkshire puddings freeze easily and contribute to another roast dinner in less time/fuel cost (think summer roast dinner shortcuts ;) )

I just love supermarket Christmas joint prices and I save all year to stock up. Why? a) they are such good value!; b) because they are large they can either be cut in half/thirds, or, roasted whole and then the cooked meat frozen for another time/meal.

I hear Sainsbury's have some half price lamb joints on the go at the moment ... I shall be off to stock up on that

Great reply mum. Must admit when I see a joint going half price and its large enough ill buy a few. Usually lasts 2 days and feeds my parents and I and my dog. She eats most of our phone we know she can eat along with her own.

A joint, in meat terms is a sizeable cut that can be boiled, braised or roasted whole and carved into slices afterwards Redstar,

I cook a roast at least twice a week. It can work out quite cheap and I love my roasties.

The only potatoes to use :dbgrtmb:

I do the same :blue thumb:. You can get a trivet that is V shaped so that the breast doesn't get squashed flat. :dbgrtmb:

Nothing worse than squashed flat breasts.

        :dancy: SNAP!!!! :dancy:

I've popped a chicken in (and there will be *no* squashed flat breasts in Mum's house :nonofinger: ); I'll make some roasted mediterranean veg, roast potatoes, couscous stuffing, yorkshire puddings, steamed carrots and peas.

        What are you having Zigs?
