Today I bought 4 months supply of cheese from Lidl @ £1.14/400g (£2.85/kg & 14th May 2013 date) and all the 500g packets of pancake flour @ 10p they had in B&M Bargains (I'm wating for somebody to ask me what bread made with pancake flour tastes like).

Pancake flour is plain flour by any other name, is it not?

Sainsbury's Basics tea bags - 28p for 80, and I am drinking a nice hot cuppa now made with one of them. Given that the equivalent own brand is around £1.80 or more, these are a bargain!

Mrs Scrungee uses those as she has a serious tea habit and reckons they are the best 'value' tea bags available. Sainsburys are supposed to be in the process of replacing them with smaller boxes of only 50 for the same price - look at the instore shelf edge labels with the new description, so if your local store still has the boxes of 80 it might be prudent to stock up now.

          P.S. They are only 27p.

Even if they do drop to 50 bags, they are still good value. We don't drink an awful lot of tea (we are coffee lovers), so for us they are ideal

Just noticed this thread, and well worth it as prices seem to be skyrocketing. For one reason or another didn't do a proper big shop for about 6 weeks in the autumn and noticed a big jump in prices of some items, some 15%.

As others probably do I use this for price comparisons between the major supermarkets http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/shelves/top_offers_in_asda.html?store=tesco

At Tescos at the mo a 50 wash big box of Persil is £5
Also East End (I like this brand) tinned tomatoes chopped 4 for a £1

Morrisons had 24 can trays of those during Ramadan that worked out cheaper and after Ramadan we found some with the shrink wrapping damaged and reduced even further, plus we used £3 off £20 spend vouchers (still got a stack of cans behind our sofa)

Worth looking around Sainsburys as they've been reducing loads of stuff recently. We've got these plus 3 packs of Magnums for 75p/pkt, veggie gelatine ?p and there's been lots that we've missed

            cream1.jpg cream2.jpg

The battered fish was 4 packs, so only 20p for a fish dinner when served with half a 15p tin of baby potatoes and some home grown beans/peas.

The Basics Fish is actually pretty decent when all is considered - and its a helluva sight cheaper than one of the branded ones

They are doing breaded chicken fillets and chicken kievs in the freezer aisle now, and there is now't wrong with them - nice cheap wee dinner with some veggies; and we have just had some Basics Burgers for dinner tonight, again not a thing wrong with them, especially for the money.

I've got to be honest, there are very few duff products in the Basics range, and many of them are actually better than the more expensive ones purely because they are not stuffed with artificial preservatives and they are simple recipes.

That's not what's it's about - Those bags of Basics fish I bought were reduced from £2 to 50p per pack of 5 fillets. That's only 12.5p per fillet.

Apparently they now have some crisps @ 3p/pkt. Off to Sainsburys tomorrow.

Did our Sainsburys shop this morning. Only 2 items at full price, couple of £2.50 pizzas and we had two £2 printable coupons getting them down to 50p each.

Boxes of Halloween crackers reduced from £4 to 50p each will do us for Xmas & New Year.

Another example of how to get stuff really cheap. Download/print 65p off Magnum chocolate packs and use them to purchase from Tescos who are charging 60p each and buy 2 get I free, so you get 10p off your other shopping, plus an extra free pack + clubcard points on cost of shop prior to voucher use! We're going to use some of our stockpile as free Xmas presents

            savings1.jpg

There was a voucher in the Metro for free Uncle Bens rice the other day, and that's also on buy 2 get 1 free, using those also means free food + money off your bill. Don't go anywhere where the Metro's available, but have now got link to voucher pdf file so will hit this one hard.

Here's another one - Tesco are doing 10 Muller Corners for £3, so buy using a 25 points coupon sent with last mailing. £5 in Clubcard points can be exchanged for a £15 T&M voucher, so counting that as a 75p saving, that's 22.5p per Corner, normal price 68p.

            savings2.jpg

Plus there's another 10p cashback that can be exchanged for 10.5p in Clubcard Points http://www.topcashback.co.uk/SnapAndSave/upload/899

Tesco fixed the glitch which gave you free rice plus money off your shopping, but we still get several packets of free rice each on the way into town and on the way back out again.

            rice.jpg

And despite it costing nowt, you still get Clubcard & bag re-use points!
